Kinetic IT has won the end-to-end infrastructure services packages under the Western Australian Police Force's ICT services contract WAPOL04124, an agreement valued at about AUD $250 million.
All services covered by the deal have now moved into live support, extending a relationship between the two organisations that began with ICT infrastructure service delivery work in 2008.
Under the contract, Kinetic IT will provide day-to-day IT operations support across the police force's 15 districts, more than 200 police facilities, about 6,800 police officers and 2,000 support staff. The services span 2.5 million square kilometres, which Kinetic IT described as the world's largest policing jurisdiction.
The work is split across four service towers, each with an initial term of three to five years and options for the police force to extend each service line by a further two to three years.
Scope of work
The contract covers service desk functions, incident and change management, ServiceNow support, cyber security monitoring and governance, and management of cloud platforms, servers, storage and backups.
It also includes end-user services such as desktop and field support at remote sites, Microsoft 365 tools, meeting room technology, and a desktop-as-a-service model for staff devices.
Kinetic IT is a privately owned Australian technology services company with about 1,500 employees across the country. It works with government, defence, federal government, critical infrastructure and enterprise customers.
Leighton Freene, Managing Director for Defence, Federal Government and National Security at Kinetic IT, said the award continues the company's long-standing relationship with the police force.
"Kinetic IT has been proud to stand alongside the Western Australian Police Force day-to-day for nearly 20 years, and during some of the most significant moments in recent history, from supporting the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in 2011 to the force's technology response during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Our teams work shoulder-to-shoulder with the Western Australian Police Force to ensure the technology the frontline relies on is resilient, secure and ready, whether it's a routine day or a moment of national importance. This new agreement reinforces our work together, built on shared purpose, long-term commitment and a focus on enabling the WA Police Force to continue serving and protecting the Western Australian community," Freene said.
The award keeps in place a supplier arrangement supporting core policing systems and workplace technology across metropolitan and regional operations.
For the Western Australian Police Force, the contract brings together central infrastructure management, cyber monitoring and end-user support under one provider across multiple service lines. For Kinetic IT, it adds to a government and national security portfolio that already includes work in regulated and operationally sensitive environments.
The agreement covers ongoing support for frontline and office-based staff across Western Australia's police network, including remote sites where field support and device management form part of the service requirement.
With all four service towers now live, the contract has moved from transition to steady-state delivery across the force's infrastructure and workplace technology estate.
