xAmplify names Tom Scicluna as next chief executive
Wed, 28th Oct 2026 (Today)
xAmplify has appointed Tom Scicluna as its next chief executive officer, effective from January 2027.
Scicluna, currently Chief Revenue Officer, will succeed Founder Wayne Gowland, who will become executive chairman and remain involved in the business.
The leadership changes come as the Australian technology and transformation company expands nationally after a series of acquisitions and its move into Western Australia. The new structure is intended to support the next stage of growth as xAmplify broadens its work across AI, cyber security, cloud, business transformation and enterprise platforms.
Alongside the chief executive succession, xAmplify has announced two other executive changes. Chief Operating Officer Brendan Leonard will become chief customer officer, while Michael Percival will take on the role of chief revenue officer.
Leonard will lead the customer and transformation business unit, covering customer relationships, account management, strategy and change work. Percival will oversee new business development and strategic growth opportunities.
The revised structure separates leadership of existing customer partnerships from new business activity, while aiming to improve coordination across service lines.
Expansion phase
xAmplify has grown through acquisitions and geographic expansion. Its recent purchase of Western Australian ServiceNow specialist Accelerate IT Solutions followed earlier acquisitions of CTO Group and Green Cloud Consulting.
The combined business now has more than 250 employees across five locations. That broader footprint forms the backdrop to the handover from founder-led management to a new executive structure.
Gowland said the succession plan reflects the company's evolution.
"When we started xAmplify, we were a much smaller business with a very different set of challenges. We've now reached a point where we need to think differently about how we lead the company and where we put our attention," said Wayne Gowland, Chief Executive Officer, xAmplify.
He also pointed to Scicluna's role in the company's recent development.
"Tom has helped shape so much of what we've built over the past six years. He's been close to our customers, he's earned the respect of our team, and he understands what it takes to grow the business without losing what makes it work," Gowland said.
Customer focus
Scicluna said his immediate focus as incoming chief executive would be bringing together the company's different areas of work while maintaining close ties with customers.
"We've grown considerably, and my priority now is making sure we're bringing the best of what we do together for our customers," said Tom Scicluna, Chief Revenue Officer, xAmplify.
He said customers were navigating a fast-changing technology environment, especially around AI.
"Our customers are dealing with a lot of change, particularly with AI moving so quickly. They're looking for practical advice, people who understand their business and partners who can help them make sense of where to invest and what to prioritise," Scicluna said.
Scicluna also described the kind of organisation he wants xAmplify to be for both customers and staff.
"I want us to be the kind of business customers can turn to for those conversations, and one that our people are proud to be part of. We've got a talented team and a lot of capability across the business, and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together," he said.
The company has linked the management changes to its Digital One strategy, which is designed to bring its technology and transformation activities closer together. The approach is intended to support stronger customer relationships and more integrated work across the group.
Scicluna also said the growth of Australian technology businesses matters as organisations respond to AI and broader digital change.
"AI is changing how organisations operate and compete, and we're only beginning to see its wider impact. Australia has the talent and expertise to play a meaningful role in that shift, with significant potential to improve productivity, strengthen industries and create lasting economic value," Scicluna said.
The executive appointments will take effect in January 2027, with the transition taking place through the rest of 2026.
