Prophet strengthens AI team with key engineering hires
Decision intelligence firm Prophet has appointed Senior Software Engineer Aysa Matueva and Frontend Developer Ruxin Ma as it expands its technology team amid recent product and customer growth.
Matueva will work on platform engineering, focusing on backend systems. Ma will lead development of the user interface and customer experience.
The hires come as Prophet scales its operations and extends its product line, including the recently launched Prophet AI platform. Prophet positions the platform as a way for organisations to simulate strategy using digital models of their operations.
Engineering focus
Matueva has close to a decade of experience building backend systems, including distributed systems, data pipelines and event-driven architecture. She has held senior developer roles at ANZ, Culture Amp and Zendesk, and previously worked at General Assembly as a Full Stack Developer.
Ma began her career at Baidu as a Product Manager working on search results optimisation. She has also worked at Himalaya Peak and QuickSite Guru.
Prophet said both recruits are product-oriented, with experience spanning technology delivery and customer needs. The company has placed increasing emphasis on the platform's presentation layer as it expands use across business teams.
Jordan Taylor-Bartels, Prophet's Chief Executive, linked the appointments to the pace of product development and growing customer demand.
"Prophet is a rapidly evolving organisation and we are continuously building and improving our decision intelligence platform to bring clients faster results and insights. The business is scaling fast - and it's critical that we have a world-class development team in place to meet demand and grow at pace. These new appointments will help achieve our ambitions - they bring unique experience and backgrounds to their new roles, making them well-placed to bridge technical execution with Prophet's business objectives.
"Both Aysa and Ruxin impressed us with their product-oriented mindset and their strong understanding of user needs; their expertise will be vital in enabling our clients to visualise insights and data-driven marketing decisions," said Taylor-Bartels.
Product rollout
Prophet AI is the company's newest platform release. Prophet describes it as an AI decision intelligence product that builds digital clones of organisations and uses those models to run simulations of strategy and outcomes.
Prophet has pitched its broader platform around measuring and optimising business decisions. It has emphasised marketing measurement and planning as a core use case, alongside sales and operational investment decisions.
Matueva said her work will focus on system architecture and the complexity of ingesting multiple sources of information.
"I'm someone who thrives in building event-driven systems at scale, and I'm happiest in fast-moving teams, where engineers care about quality, ownership and solving real problems together. Prophet ticks all the boxes with its impressive tech stack and innovative product. I'm looking forward to taking on the architectural challenge of building a system capable of digesting diverse data streams," said Matueva.
Ma said she was attracted by the company's working environment and the platform build-out.
"I was drawn to Prophet's collaborative culture and its commitment to delivering meaningful business impact for clients. I'm excited to grow alongside a talented team, working with cutting-edge technologies, and contributing to solutions that drive real results," said Ma.
Growth hires
Recruitment has not been limited to engineering. Prophet has added leadership roles across sales, hiring and marketing science as it builds go-to-market operations and internal capability.
James Sawyer joined as Vice President of Sales and Partnerships and was described as the company's foundational hire in Sydney. Talent acquisition specialist Bec Geyer was appointed to lead talent, people and recruitment. Rachel Scott joined from Suncorp as Head of Marketing Science.
Prophet also added Carl Clasio and Leo Roubos to its national sales team late last year. Their responsibilities include revenue operations, growth and onboarding.
The company has expanded its Advisory Board, appointing Phil Davis, Vice President Global GTM at Google Cloud, and Professor Andrew Gelman of Columbia University, known for his work in Bayesian statistics and data modelling.
Market position
Prophet has reported customer uptake across retail, insurance, automotive, media, on-demand delivery, wagering and cybersecurity. It was awarded AFR BOSS Most Innovative Company in the Media and Marketing category in 2025.
Prophet was founded by Jordan Taylor-Bartels, a former Hyperloop Global Marketing lead, and Sean Taylor, a former Ogilvy and VMLY&R Commerce CEO. It launched in Australia in 2024. Prophet says its approach gives brands mathematical insight into marketing performance and areas for improvement.
Matueva and Ma have started in their roles. Prophet continues to recruit across technical and commercial functions as it expands platform development and customer delivery.
