Cover Genius & Traveloka launch travel cover in Australia

Thu, 4th Jun 2026 (Today)

Cover Genius has partnered with Traveloka to offer travel protection products across Traveloka's platforms. The arrangement includes Cancellation Protection in Australia and broader travel cover in several other markets.

The deal brings Cover Genius products into Traveloka's booking flow as the Southeast Asian travel platform expands beyond its core markets, including its recent move into Australia. Customers booking through Traveloka in Australia can now buy cancellation cover during the purchase process.

The product offers refunds when travellers cancel part or all of a trip because of unforeseen events. Covered reasons include accident, injury or sickness affecting the traveller, a companion or close family member, including pre-existing medical conditions. Cover also extends to transport disruption on the way to the airport, major flight delays caused by bad weather or mechanical breakdowns, natural disasters, theft of travel documents, home emergencies and redundancy.

Traveloka has also introduced Cover Genius comprehensive travel protection in several markets across its platform. The partnership is intended to support a broader regional relationship across multiple products and geographies, rather than a single-country arrangement.

Traveloka is one of the region's larger travel booking groups, with operations in Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. It has recorded more than 140 million app downloads and over 40 million monthly active users.

Cover Genius focuses on embedded insurance and protection products sold through digital platforms. It operates in more than 60 countries and all 50 US states, and has served more than 41 million customers through partnerships with large online businesses.

Australia rollout

The Australian launch is tied to Traveloka's effort to expand its international footprint. Embedding travel protection into the booking path lets customers add cover at the point of purchase, rather than through a separate insurance transaction.

For travel platforms, this model has become more common as companies look for additional services alongside flights, hotels and experiences. It also reflects a broader shift in travel retail towards offering ancillary products within the same transaction flow.

Barney Pierce, Chief Business Officer at Cover Genius, described the partnership as part of a broader push to support travel companies in multiple markets.

"Traveloka is a leading travel tech platform in Southeast Asia, with a strong reputation for innovation and customer-centric design," Pierce said.

"This partnership reflects a shared ambition to deliver protection that is seamless, scalable and genuinely valuable to travellers. We're proud to support Traveloka's expansion in key markets with embedded protection solutions built for global scale."

Regional push

The agreement also expands Cover Genius' presence in Asia-Pacific, where travel companies and other digital platforms have been adopting embedded protection products as part of their customer offering. In travel, those products can include cancellation cover, medical-related protection and other trip disruption policies.

Traveloka said the aim is to make protection part of a simpler booking experience. Kevin Wibowo, Head of Insurance at Traveloka, said:

"Our focus is on delivering a booking experience that feels simple, transparent and personalized. Through our partnership with Cover Genius, we're able to seamlessly integrate protection into the Traveloka journey, enabling customers to make confident decisions without added friction. Ultimately, it's about giving travellers greater peace of mind at the moment they book."
