MSI has opened pre-orders for the Prestige N16 Flip AI+, its first laptop built around NVIDIA RTX Spark.

The 2-in-1 is available through selected MSI retail and channel partners, with availability varying by market. In Australia, eligible buyers can also receive a pre-order bundle valued at AUD $179, including an MSI Dual Drive 128GB and one year of accidental damage protection.

The launch makes MSI one of the first manufacturers to bring NVIDIA's RTX Spark platform to a Windows laptop. The company says the Prestige N16 Flip AI+ is the only 2-in-1 convertible among the first announced group of RTX Spark Windows systems.

The machine uses an NVIDIA RTX Spark N1X processor, combining a 20-core CPU with an NVIDIA Blackwell RTX GPU. It can be configured with up to 128GB of unified memory and deliver up to 1 petaflop of FP4 AI performance, according to MSI.

That hardware positioning reflects a broader push by laptop makers to market on-device artificial intelligence tools to creative and technical users. MSI is targeting customers who want to run AI workloads locally rather than rely on cloud-based services, with an emphasis on privacy, lower recurring costs and reduced latency.

Local AI focus

MSI says the Prestige N16 Flip AI+ is designed for personal AI agent workloads, model prototyping, coding and content creation. It also supports NVIDIA CUDA, which should make it compatible with a broad range of existing AI software.

MSI also points to uses beyond AI development. The laptop supports NVIDIA Studio tools as well as RTX features including ray tracing, DLSS and Reflex, positioning it for video work, 3D creation and gaming alongside office and development tasks.

Memory is one of the system's headline specifications. Its unified memory architecture allows the CPU and GPU to share a pool of up to 128GB, intended to support larger AI models, 3D projects of up to 90GB and high-resolution media workflows while multiple demanding applications remain open, according to MSI.

Convertible design

The Prestige N16 Flip AI+ also leans heavily on its form factor. It has a 360-degree hinge and can be used in laptop, tablet, tent and presentation modes. A bundled MSI Nano Pen is included for note-taking, annotation and sketching.

On some variants, the display is a 16-inch UHD+ Tandem OLED touchscreen, with MSI citing peak brightness of more than 1,000 nits, 100% DCI-P3 colour coverage, Calman verification and Delta E <1 colour accuracy. One listed Australian configuration instead uses a 16-inch 2.8K OLED touchscreen, while retaining pen support and a variable refresh rate of 30Hz to 120Hz.

Other hardware features include a larger touchpad, an SD card reader and a quad-speaker audio setup. MSI says the touchpad surface is 53% larger than the previous generation and includes customisable gesture zones.

Windows on arm

The laptop runs Windows 11 Pro NextGen Premium on Arm. MSI says it combines Arm-native application support with access to established Windows software through emulation, as PC makers continue to test whether Arm-based designs can win over mainstream professional users.

Battery capacity is another notable feature. The Prestige N16 Flip AI+ has a 99.9Wh battery and supports 140W USB-C fast charging. MSI says the device is designed to maintain responsiveness whether plugged in or running on battery power.

Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Ports include two USB4 Type-C connections with DisplayPort and Power Delivery 3.1, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, HDMI 2.1, an SD card reader and a combined audio jack.

Security features listed by MSI include a discrete TPM 2.0 module, fingerprint reader, IR webcam, webcam shutter and smart guard sensor. The webcam is an IR full HD unit with HDR and 3D noise reduction.

The product weighs 1.9kg and measures 13.9mm to 16.9mm thick. Storage is provided through an NVMe M.2 SSD slot using PCIe Gen4.

MSI also highlighted application-specific optimisation claims for software used by creative professionals. The company said DaVinci Resolve can use fifth-generation Tensor Cores for colour grading and AI editing tools, Blender can use DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction in the Cycles viewport, Adobe Premiere Pro can draw on Blackwell NVENC and NVDEC engines for exports, and ComfyUI can run local diffusion workflows using NVFP4 acceleration.

The launch highlights how laptop vendors are trying to distinguish new premium notebooks through AI processing claims, memory capacity and flexible designs rather than conventional CPU upgrades alone. For MSI, the Prestige N16 Flip AI+ combines that strategy with what it describes as an unusual category in the first wave of RTX Spark machines: a large-screen convertible with touchscreen and pen support.
