Infor harnesses Amazon Bedrock for new AI solutions

Thu, 29th Aug 2024

Infor has announced its selection of Amazon Bedrock to power generative AI (GenAI) solutions within Infor CloudSuite, aiming to enhance customer value and efficiency. This decision builds on Infor's 11-year partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), with both companies working closely over the years.

The collaboration will introduce 60 new AI use cases by the end of the year, tailored to help businesses optimise daily operations. Infor has already implemented industry-specific use cases using AWS technology, which has been integrated into their solutions through Amazon Bedrock's pre-trained models.

Soma Somasundaram, President and Chief Technology Officer at Infor, stated, "Infor is on a mission to democratise AI by making it accessible to all our customers, regardless of the size of their organisation or the technical resources they employ. Our goal is to build products that deliver transformative technologies directly to those who benefit most – the frontline people using Infor solutions."

Somasundaram added, "At Infor, we believe that merely giving customers the tools to apply GenAI isn't enough. Our Industry AI approach combines both the tools and deep industry capability and expertise to collaboratively work with customers to build and offer solutions that drive real value."

Infor has already deployed hundreds of predictive and prescriptive AI solutions through its Augmented Intelligence Service, which have helped customers enhance operational efficiencies, increase revenue, improve customer satisfaction, and anticipate future demand. These systems were built using AWS services such as Amazon SageMaker. With Amazon Bedrock now at the core of its GenAI developments, Infor customers will benefit from an additional 60 use cases by year-end.

Examples of these new capabilities include providing support for frontline staff. In the healthcare sector, for instance, the solution aims to reduce administrative tasks for nurses by automatically identifying shift coverage options based on skills and availability. In the e-commerce domain, the technology will enable faster product launches by auto-generating multiple item descriptions for online platforms, which can be published with a single click.

Furthermore, automated executive summaries will provide project status updates in project management within industries like aerospace and defence, identify issues such as delays and cost overruns, and suggest actionable recommendations. The AI will facilitate quick translation and deployment of business process email templates for global operations, particularly in automotive and high-tech electronics sectors, ensuring consistent messaging across international teams.

Matt Wood, Vice President of AI Products at AWS, commented on the partnership, "AWS has worked closely with Infor over the last 11 years and we've seen their commitment to deliver value to customers. Their industry expertise combined with Amazon Bedrock will make it easy and cost-effective for Infor customers of any size to take advantage of generative AI in their daily workflows. All while taking advantage of built-in security to deploy applications safely and responsibly."
