Convo Media has launched StoryVideo, a connected TV advertising product that links television ads with follow-on mobile content.

Available through Convo's partnership with Index Exchange, StoryVideo gives advertisers access to inventory across Foxtel, BINGE, Kayo, Fetch TV, ESPN, SBS, Tubi, Samsung, Plex, LG, TCL, Hisense and VIDAA.

The Sydney-based advertising platform said StoryVideo is designed to add content prompts around a television commercial and continue the experience on mobile devices. The format uses content frames adapted from Convo's existing mobile StoryWalk unit and places them alongside a brand's TV creative.

These frames can carry product information, brand messages and other supporting material that may not fit easily within a standard television spot. On mobile, the campaign can then extend into further content intended to keep viewers engaged after their initial exposure on the larger screen.

The launch comes as spending on digital video continues to rise in Australia. According to IAB Australia's Internet Advertising Revenue Report, Australian video advertising expenditure rose 18.8% year on year to AUD $5.9 billion in FY26, accounting for 30% of total internet advertising expenditure.

Connected TV accounted for 60% of publisher video expenditure, up from 51% in FY25, the report found. The figures point to a broader shift in how advertisers are allocating budgets across streaming and digital video environments.

CTV growth

For advertising groups such as Convo, the expansion of connected TV creates an opening to test formats that do more than replicate traditional television commercials in streaming environments. Its approach centres on combining a main-screen video ad with adjacent messaging, then building a second-screen journey on mobile.

Monique Harris, Chief Executive Officer of Convo Media, outlined that strategy in comments accompanying the launch. "Television is a powerful place to capture attention. The opportunity is to make that moment work harder and give audiences a reason to continue engaging," Harris said.

She added: "As more investment flows into CTV, brands have an opportunity to think beyond where their commercial runs and consider how the creative can work within that environment. StoryVideo combines the storytelling impact of TV creative with supporting graphics that bring key selling points into focus. Designed around dual-screen viewing habits, it carries that story into mobile experiences where audiences can explore the brand in more detail."

The emphasis on dual-screen viewing reflects a common audience behaviour in streaming environments, where viewers often watch television while also using a smartphone. Convo is seeking to turn that habit into a structured advertising journey that starts with a TV commercial and continues on a handset.

Broader push

StoryVideo follows the rollout of Social StoryWalk, another Convo format aimed at reusing creative assets across channels. That product adapts social media creative for Convo's wider network, including premium publisher sites and digital out-of-home placements.

In practical terms, a campaign first developed for platforms such as Meta or TikTok can be reformatted for article pages and outdoor screens rather than being confined to the original social platforms. Convo is positioning this as a way for advertisers and agencies to extend the life of existing materials across multiple media environments.

Harris said this reflected a wider issue in how marketers think about distribution. "There's a tendency to think that content that performs well on social media should only be boosted within those same platforms. But the opportunity to amplify strong creative extends well beyond big tech," she said.

She added: "Social StoryWalk gives that content a life outside social, helping brands reach audiences across premium publishers and digital out-of-home without complex creative production or cross-team workflows."

Taken together, StoryVideo and Social StoryWalk expand Convo's offering across desktop, mobile, social, digital out-of-home and connected TV. Advertisers and agencies can adapt existing campaign materials for each environment through a single buying and management point rather than handling separate creative versions in isolation, the company said.

The broader backdrop is a market in which content production is becoming easier and distribution decisions more significant. "AI is making it easier for brands and agencies to produce more content. That makes where it runs, the context around it and how it performs even more important. Our full suite of formats helps creative travel further and work harder," Harris said.
