Cognizant acquires Thirdera to expand ServiceNow capabilities

Mon, 18th Dec 2023
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Yesterday, an announcement confirmed that Cognizant has acquired Thirdera, an Elite ServiceNow Partner specialising in advisory, implementation, and optimisation solutions linked to the ServiceNow platform. The acquisition signifies Cognizant's commitment to offering clients a comprehensive experience in the ServiceNow ecosystem, as detailed by Jane Livesey, CEO of Cognizant Asia Pacific. Livesey related, "This acquisition represents our commitment to offer clients one of the most comprehensive experiences in the ServiceNow ecosystem, with robust capabilities in professional services across key ServiceNow workflows and emerging products, including Generative AI."

Following this acquisition, Cognizant will absorb more than 940 employees from Thirdera into its ServiceNow Business Group, thus constructing one of the largest amalgamations of ServiceNow professional certifications globally. This is part of Cognizant's efforts in collaboration with ServiceNow to build a $1 billion combined business concentrating on AI-driven automation. Thirdera is recognised as the 2023 Worldwide Creator Workflow Partner of the Year and 2023 ServiceNow Americas IT Workflow Partner of the Year.

In addition to their recognitions, Thirdera has been acknowledged as the largest independent global pure-play ServiceNow consultancy. Ravi Kumar S, Cognizant's CEO, believes the merge of Cognizant's deep industry, AI, and platform expertise with Thirdera's innovative enterprise transformation offerings will position Cognizant at the forefront of innovation in the ServiceNow ecosystem. With Thirdera's team members spread across locations such as North America, Spain, Colombia, the Netherlands, and Australia, there will be a substantial increase in Cognizant ServiceNow Business Group's reach globally.

Jason Wojahn, CEO and Co-Founder of Thirdera, sees this as a critical moment for delivering improved customer engagement and operational efficiency. He asserted, "We aim to transform the fabric of our clients' work environments, creating substantial value and offering our employees significant opportunities for professional growth and learning." Bill McDermott, chairman, and CEO of ServiceNow, view this acquisition as Cognizant's strategic move to capitalise on the emerging market opportunities with ServiceNow and to build industry-leading GenAI solutions on the ServiceNow platform.

The deal is planned to be finalised in January 2024, subject to the satisfaction of closing conditions. The precise financial details have not been released to the public. This acquisition follows Cognizant's acquisition of ServiceNow consultancy Linium in 2021 and is in line with Cognizant and ServiceNow's continued strategic partnership aiming to build a $1 billion combined business focusing on AI-driven automation.
