Advent One wins Red Hat award for digital transformation in ANZ
Advent One has received the Digital Transformation Award for the Australia and New Zealand region in the Red Hat APAC Innovation Awards 2025.
The award, conferred by open source provider Red Hat, acknowledges the use of Red Hat's open source technologies by Advent One to modernise its IT infrastructure and deliver operational efficiencies.
Award criteria
The Red Hat APAC Innovation Awards recognise organisations across Asia Pacific that have used open source technology to address business challenges and realise tangible outcomes. The 2025 awards include five categories: Digital Transformation, Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure, Cloud-native Development, Automation, and AI and Emerging Tech. Advent One's win comes specifically in the Digital Transformation category, aimed at organisations that have streamlined and improved the efficiency of their IT environments while achieving measurable benefits.
This recognition follows Advent One's development of an automated operating model built on Red Hat OpenShift and Ansible Automation Platform, addressing shifts in virtual machine and container management requirements. The company supports customers in a variety of sectors across Australia and undertook both internal and client-facing transformation projects in 2025.
Efficiency and business impact
As part of its migration from VMware to Red Hat OpenShift, completed in March 2025, Advent One implemented a model for repeatable deployment, migration, and ongoing operations using Red Hat OpenShift GitOps and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform. This included automating the management of both virtual machines and containers, allowing both internal systems and those run for clients to be managed through a consistent framework.
The outcomes of the transformation include a more than 40% reduction in Advent One's virtual environment footprint. In addition, a major application that previously required 184GB of memory under VMware was reduced to operating in less than 10GB under the new model. Dashboards for customers also saw improvements, now loading two to three times faster. These advances have generated annual savings reported to be in the six-figure range, attributed to increased efficiency and optimisation.
Industry recognition
"We are proud of the automated and unified platform we have developed using Red Hat OpenShift and Ansible Automation Platform at its core. To receive industry recognition for this innovation is terrific. The results speak for themselves, a repeatable operating model, not just a platform, which helps deploy and manage both virtual machines and containers easily, while also realising significant cost savings. Red Hat's technology has helped us make this solution a reality."
These were the remarks from Talor Holloway, Chief Technical Officer at Advent One, in response to the company's award.
Red Hat's perspective
"The pace of change in Asia Pacific shows no signs of slowing, especially as AI becomes a core driver of business transformation. Despite these demands, our customers have delivered remarkable results, showing that innovation thrives when paired with open source. The Red Hat APAC Innovation Awards 2025 are an opportune time to recognise and celebrate these achievements, highlighting how our customers are unlocking what's next and shaping a future defined by creativity, resilience, and impact."
Marjet Andriesse, Senior Vice President and General Manager, APJC, Red Hat, provided these comments, placing Advent One's recognition within the wider trends affecting technology adoption and transformation in Asia Pacific.
Open source in business transformation
The award not only highlights the technical changes undertaken by Advent One, but the commercial outcomes achieved through the adoption of open source solutions. The reduced reliance on legacy virtualisation technology, resource optimisation, and support for modern application deployment patterns have reinforced Advent One's position in the managed services space. The company's emphasis on repeatable processes and automation, backed by Red Hat's technologies, are noted as having set it apart in the market.
The recognition from Red Hat will likely support Advent One as it continues to offer solutions to customers aiming to modernise their own IT operations in an evolving cloud and container landscape.
