UiPath leads 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant as RPA market grows
UiPath has been recognised as a leader in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
The research report evaluated 13 RPA vendors to assist enterprises in making informed decisions for their automation requirements. UiPath attained the highest position for its Ability to Execute, marking the seventh consecutive year the company has been named a Leader in this report.
Market growth and industry dynamics
Gartner's evaluation comes at a significant time for the RPA sector.
According to Gartner, "The RPA market is at a pivotal inflection point. In 2024, the market generated USD $3.8 billion in revenue representing a healthy 18 percent increase YoY, compared to the broader infrastructure software growth of 10.7% (see Forecast: Enterprise Infrastructure Software, Worldwide, 2023-2029, 1Q25 Update).
However, AI innovations have introduced alternatives to traditional deterministic RPA technologies and the rise of enterprise automation platforms such as business orchestration and automation technologies (BOAT)."
This assessment highlights the growing influence of artificial intelligence-driven technologies in shaping the future of enterprise automation, prompting software vendors and enterprises to consider new strategies.
UiPath's approach and platform features
"Robotic process automation (RPA) has laid the groundwork for automation and is at the forefront of the agentic automation revolution, where intelligent software agents can perceive, reason, and act autonomously to achieve complex business objectives," said Mark Geene, SVP & General Manager of AI Products at UiPath.
"UiPath equips agents with the strongest RPA tools to act accurately and reliably with core operational systems. The UiPath PlatformTM for agentic automation provides an open and trusted platform that enables advanced orchestration by seamlessly integrating agents, robots, and people to create true agentic workflows that help customers meet business demands, increase productivity, improve customer experiences, enhance compliance, and accelerate digital transformation."
UiPath's platform incorporates a combination of generative AI, natural language processing, process orchestration, API integration, process and task mining, intelligent document processing, low-code application development, and application testing. The platform's flexibility allows deployment on-premises, in the cloud, or in a hybrid environment.
Recent enhancements
Recent updates to the UiPath Platform for agentic automation include the introduction of UiPath Maestro, which offers a new orchestration layer to model, operate, and optimise complex processes end-to-end.
Maestro aims to drive continuous optimisation through embedded process intelligence and real-time KPI monitoring, granting centralised oversight for safely orchestrating and scaling AI agents across various systems and teams.
The Controlled Agency feature is designed to ensure that trusted AI agents work within clearly defined guardrails, maintaining security, predictability, and performance. The platform's governance measures include real-time vulnerability assessments and stringent data access controls for protecting enterprise technology environments.
Another enhancement is the UiPath Agent Builder in Studio, providing a guided workspace for both business technologists and experienced developers to build, test, and deploy AI agents. The tool supports rapid prototyping and customisation, enabling scalable automations that adapt to complex and evolving enterprise needs.
The Open, Multi-Agent Framework for the Enterprise enables UiPath to integrate with third-party agent frameworks, orchestrating complex multi-agent systems across functions and breaking down operational silos. This capability supports enterprise automation strategies with a future-ready, open approach.
UiPath IXP (Intelligent Xtraction & Processing) presents a multimodal data classification and extraction experience that brings together several IDP capabilities. Its new feature, Generative Extraction, offers prompt-driven analysis for handling unstructured and complex documents. UiPath IXP is intended to deliver fast results and a seamless user experience by turning varied document and communication data into actionable insights.
Gartner Magic Quadrant context
