Reolink has launched the OMVI 2i Ultra security camera in Australia, with the product now available through JB Hi-Fi stores nationwide.

The launch is Reolink's first major product release with JB Hi-Fi since entering the retailer. The camera is stocked in 160 stores and is also available through Reolink's online channel and Amazon for AUD $429.99.

The OMVI 2i Ultra is a dual-lens device aimed at households and businesses seeking wider coverage from a single camera. It combines an 8MP wide-view camera with a secondary 5MP pan-tilt lens designed to follow movement while maintaining a broader fixed view.

The lower lens offers 355-degree pan and 55-degree tilt, allowing the unit to track a moving subject after detection by the wide-view camera. The system also includes auto-framing and lets users direct the pan-tilt camera to a selected point on the wider image.

Retail expansion

The JB Hi-Fi rollout adds to Reolink's existing Australian retail presence, which includes The Good Guys, Costco and Bunnings Warehouse. The broader store network gives the brand a larger physical footprint in a market where demand for home monitoring products has risen alongside interest in devices that do not require professional installation.

Battery life is one of the model's main selling points. The camera uses a detachable 10,000mAh battery that can last up to six months on a single charge under Reolink's stated usage conditions, and it is paired with a built-in 6W solar panel to reduce the need for manual recharging.

The device also includes on-camera detection that distinguishes between people, vehicles and animals, an approach intended to reduce false alerts, a common complaint among users of consumer surveillance products. Other features include colour night vision, infrared night vision, a motion-activated spotlight, dual PIR sensors, a siren and light deterrence, two-way audio, and support for up to 12 simultaneous streams.

Product details

For storage, the camera supports local recording through microSD cards of up to 512GB and the Reolink Home Hub range. It also works with Alexa and Google Assistant, with features available without subscription or monthly fees.

Nick Nigro, Vice President, Australasia at Reolink, said the company chose the OMVI 2i Ultra for its first launch with JB Hi-Fi because of its broad coverage and tracking design.

"The OMVI 2i Ultra is the ideal product to feature as part of our first launch with JB Hi-Fi. Whether you are a home owner or business owner, the OMVI 2i Ultra covers a wide area while still capturing the detail up close, and because of the smart detection that runs on the camera itself, it can tell a person from a car or the family dog, meaning fewer false alarms. Now Australians can see it in stores nationwide and get expert advice before they buy," Nigro said.

The OMVI 2i Ultra was first shown at IFA 2026 and joins Reolink's OMVI series. Reolink positions the device as an all-in-one option for monitoring driveways, yards, entrances and side areas with fewer cameras and less wiring than multi-device setups.

This reflects a broader trend in the home security market, where camera makers are combining wider scene coverage with subject tracking in single units. Manufacturers have increasingly focused on reducing installation complexity while adding software-based features such as object recognition and automated tracking, particularly in battery-powered products.

The unit's smart detection runs on the device itself rather than relying on cloud processing. Local processing has become a more prominent feature among camera vendors seeking to address concerns about latency, recurring fees, and how footage and alerts are handled.

Reolink now has products in more than 5,000 stores globally and serves millions of users. In Australia, the latest launch gives the company a higher-profile presence through one of the country's largest consumer electronics chains while placing a new premium-priced camera in a competitive surveillance segment at AUD $429.99.
