Plerion becomes only Australian software firm with AWS Security Competency status
Wed, 13th Dec 2023

The innovative cybersecurity start-up Plerion, which recently secured US$10 million funding from backers including Atlassian Ventures, has announced it is now the only Australian software firm to receive the AWS Security Competency status. This prestigious award demonstrates an exceptional level of technical proficiency in security and AWS whilst recognising a proven customer success in securing the cloud journey through unified cloud security platform offerings.

Plerion, founded in 2022, aims to simplify cloud security for customers and partners on an international scale through continual development of their all-in-one cloud security platform. The platform is designed to assist customers in the proactive identification, prioritisation and mitigation of risks within their cloud environments. Plerion currently counts Australian and international companies, including PayU and MediaWorks, among its client base. The company's rapid growth is indicated by the doubling of its headcount within the past year.

Plerion has been collaborating with AWS since its public launch at the start of 2023. Throughout this year, the company received recognition through their AWS Lambda Ready Software Products validation. It proved to be an early adopter of Amazon Bedrock in September 2023, developing AI-powered remediation capabilities for customers. Their recently announced AWS Security Competency Partner status further validates Plerion as an AWS Partner specialising in providing security-focused solutions for specific workloads and use cases.

"Achieving AWS Security Competency status is a real vote of confidence in Plerion's unique capabilities, and showcases our credibility in answering market demand," says Pierre Liddle, Co-founder & CTO of Plerion. He went on to highlight the importance of cybersecurity in light of the recent release of the Australian Government's National Cyber Security Strategy 2023-2030. "Our expanded collaboration with AWS will provide a much needed holistic approach to security to all companies looking to make cloud security more simple."

In addition to its achievement of AWS Security Competency status, Plerion also recently joined the AWS Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Accelerate Program. This allows the company to reinforce its engagement with the global AWS Sales organisation. Moreover, becoming an AWS Security Hub Partner empowers Plerion's customers with richer insights into AWS's native cloud security posture management services.

"The cloud security market is booming, and with it comes a massive pool of opportunities to help customers simplify cloud security," Mike Rahmati, Co-Founder and CEO of Plerion, stated. He further remarked on the plans to expand collaborations with both Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs) and cloud consulting partners in 2024. Plerion will strive towards extending its footprint in Australia and New Zealand whilst continuously improving the successful security outcomes for customers.
