Pat Murphy to succeed Shane Baker as Experteq chief in 2025

Today

Experteq has announced that Pat Murphy will take over as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Shane Baker after his 12-year tenure.

Pat Murphy is currently Experteq's Chief Commercial Officer, a position he has held for the last three years as part of the senior leadership team. The formal transition to the CEO role is scheduled for 18 September 2025.

The announcement was made by Experteq's Board Chair, Ashley Jennings, who highlighted Mr Murphy's role in the company's strategic direction. "Pat has played a key role in shaping Experteq's commercial strategy over the last three years, deepening engagement with clients, and leading our go-to-market evolution. He brings extensive leadership and management experience, as well as a wealth of both technical and sector expertise. This leadership transition ensures Experteq will continue to deliver for customers, shareholders and staff in the years to come," said Mr Jennings.

Mr Murphy will step into the CEO role with over 20 years' experience in managed and professional services. Prior to joining Experteq, he held leadership positions at organisations such as Insight and Data#3. His background includes successfully building, managing, and scaling businesses in the sector, and he is recognised for bringing both commercial and technical acumen to his positions.

Outgoing CEO Shane Baker will step down in September 2025. During this period, he has led Experteq through significant industry changes and contributed to the company's strengthened position in the IT services sector, particularly serving mutual banks and other regulated organisations.

Mr Jennings expressed his gratitude for Mr Baker's long-standing contribution, stating, "We would like to take the opportunity to thank Shane for his enduring leadership, performance, strategic direction, and foresight. The business has evolved significantly under Shane's leadership, and we are deeply grateful for the strong foundations he has built."

On his appointment, Pat Murphy commented, "As one of Australia's leading trusted managed and professional services providers with a rich history and bright future, it's an honour to have been chosen to lead the next phase of Experteq's evolution. I look forward to further partnering with our clients and collaborating with partners and our team in our ongoing quest for providing outstanding service and support."

Mr Murphy and Mr Baker are making a phased transition of responsibilities. The company reported that both leaders are working closely throughout this period to ensure organisational continuity and maintain business momentum ahead of the official handover in September 2025.
