Lexmark launches cloud service for channel partners

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Imaging solutions provider Lexmark has launched a new cloud service for channel partners, which enables the remote management of customers with ‘hyper distributed' fleets.

Launched this week, Lexmark Cloud Bridge is a connectivity suite that bolsters Lexmark's Cloud Fleet Management platform. These enable channel partners to remotely access firmware updates, configuration, visibility, alert messaging, and supplies.

According to Lexmark Australia and New Zealand regional director Stephen Bell, the aim is to help channel partners spend less time on on-site IT and maintenance.

He adds that customers expect the same levels of managed print services support across all network environments, locations, and devices.

“We developed Lexmark Cloud Bridge to simply and securely bring advanced MPS functionality via the cloud to all network environments—from enterprise corporate headquarters to hyper distributed environments.

He explains that Lexmark Cloud Bridge allows the customer's entire networked printer fleet to securely connect to Lexmark's cloud infrastructure, irrespective of device brand, network complexity or location.

“In doing so, the connectivity suite enables channel partners to securely deliver our industry-leading print services anywhere, at any time, to any print environment — helping them to remotely manage the needs of customers from hundreds of devices to a single device in a remote office.

Customers could also reduce IT burden, increase device uptime with predictive services, and enable remote management of fleets.

Lexmark Cloud Bridge includes four complementary agents:

Native agent, and IoT-native firmware that enables Lexmark devices to connect directly with Lexmark Cloud Services global system. This is ideal for customer locations with one to multiple or all devices in remote work situations, as well as customers with disparate networks.

Print agent, a printer-based app enabling direct connectivity, including legacy solutions-capable Lexmark devices that are not IoT native. This app enhances services capabilities for older devices, extending their value over time.

Fleet Agent, which compliments direct connectivity options, providing flexibility to aggregate data on-premises with a server-based solution. This functionality works well for environments with a larger number of devices or when the fleet includes third-party, non-Lexmark branded devices.

Local agent supports direct connected printers, particularly security-conscious customers who manage their hybrid work environment through a private network with VPN.

Bell adds that the Cloud Bridge suite can deliver print services anywhere, anytime to any print environment.

“The Lexmark Cloud Bridge architecture base is a strong new foundation that positions us meet the needs of our customers today and in the future.
