JFrog names Genefa Murphy CMO to drive AI era growth

Tue, 6th Jan 2026

JFrog has appointed former Udemy executive Genefa Murphy as Chief Marketing Officer as the software company prepares for its next stage of growth in AI-driven software supply chain management.

Murphy takes up the role with immediate effect and will lead JFrog's global marketing organisation from the company's headquarters in Sunnyvale, California. She joins as JFrog positions its platform at the centre of software supply chain, security and governance trends linked to increased AI adoption.

The appointment expands JFrog's executive leadership team at a time of rising scrutiny of how organisations build, secure and govern software. JFrog provides a software supply chain platform for development, security and operations teams, and describes its technology as a system of record for software packages used across enterprises.

Shlomi Ben Haim, CEO and Co-founder of JFrog, said the hire comes at what he described as a pivotal moment for the sector.

"I'm thrilled to welcome Genefa to JFrog at a defining moment, as our industry experiences a surge of innovation across software supply chain management, security, and governance," said Shlomi Ben Haim, CEO and Co-founder of JFrog. "Software creation and usage in the era of AI is converging faster than ever, creating enormous opportunities for enterprises to build and deliver software with speed and trust at scale. JFrog sets the standard for responsible AI adoption and plays a mission-critical role as the system of record for all software packages. Genefa's proven ability to accelerate growth will be instrumental as we leap forward."

Murphy brings experience in global marketing and go-to-market leadership at listed software and technology companies. She has held senior roles that covered product, marketing and corporate strategy, as well as board positions in technology and education-related organisations.

Career background

Murphy was most recently Chief Marketing & Content Officer at Udemy, which operates a large online skills development platform with AI-based features. She led brand, product marketing and content initiatives there, including work on digital learning and skills programmes for businesses.

Before Udemy, Murphy served as CMO of cloud contact centre group Five9. She previously held the role of SVP & CMO at Micro Focus, where she oversaw marketing during a period of portfolio change in enterprise software. Earlier in her career she was Global VP of Corporate Marketing and Communications at Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

Murphy began her professional path in software development product management. She holds a PhD from the University of Wales that focused on user acceptance of new technology. JFrog highlighted this mix of technical roots and commercial leadership as relevant for current shifts in software development and AI adoption.

AI and software supply chain

The appointment comes as vendors position themselves around the security, compliance and reliability issues that arise from the use of open source components, third-party services and AI-generated code. JFrog offers a platform that manages software artefacts and releases. The company embeds security checks and governance features across development pipelines.

Murphy said the pace of change in software created new requirements for control and assurance across development and delivery.

"AI is accelerating software change. That's a fact. As velocity increases across the industry, so does the need for trust, control, and discipline across the software supply chain," said Genefa Murphy. "JFrog has been architected for this reality from the start, and already helps teams around the world ship reliable software at scale. I'm excited to join a company that focuses on solving hard, foundational problems so developers and organizations can adopt AI with confidence and take advantage of the surge of new possibilities ahead - and win."

Board and advisory roles

Outside her executive posts, Murphy has held positions in academic and professional development bodies. She has served on the Board of Rutgers University for Academics. She has also been a Board member for Televerde, which runs a workforce development programme for previously incarcerated women.

Murphy currently serves as a Limited Partner and go-to-market advisor for Stage 2 Capital. Stage 2 Capital is a venture capital firm that concentrates on commercial expansion and sales methodologies for portfolio companies.

In her new role, Murphy will direct JFrog's marketing strategy and execution worldwide. Her remit will cover brand positioning, product and field marketing, and customer engagement as JFrog seeks expansion across DevOps, DevSecOps and emerging AI-related software supply chain use cases.
