Jackery launches portable power stations in Australia
Mon, 18th May 2026 (Today)
Jackery has launched two portable power stations in Australia: the Explorer 1500 Ultra and the Explorer 600v2.
The rollout adds to its push into the local market, targeting outdoor, worksite and backup power use.
The two units are aimed at different parts of the portable energy market. The Explorer 1500 Ultra is positioned as a larger model for harsher outdoor conditions and emergency backup, while the Explorer 600v2 is a smaller unit for everyday travel and short off-grid trips.
The Explorer 1500 Ultra has a 1536Wh battery capacity and delivers up to 3,600W peak output, with support for 2000W output for up to 15 minutes. Jackery said it is intended for camping, four-wheel driving, trades work, outdoor entertainment, home backup during outages and emergency rescue.
At 17.5kg, Jackery described it as one of the lightest IP65-rated portable power stations in its class. The model uses a titanium alloy structure and a sealed battery, inverter and thermal system designed to improve cooling and protect internal components from dust and water exposure.
It includes seven ports, including two AC outlets, USB-C and USB-A ports, and a 12V car outlet. Jackery said it has splash-proof ports, level-9 shock resistance and can withstand a 1m drop.
The larger unit uses LiFePO4 battery cells and retains up to 70% battery health after 4,000 charge cycles, according to Jackery. It can be recharged in as little as 1.5 hours and supports up to 800W of solar input, enabling a full solar recharge in about 2.5 hours under optimal conditions.
Smaller unit
The Explorer 600v2 is a lighter model with a 640Wh capacity and 500W output. It is designed for weekend trips, road travel, festivals, camping and household outages, according to Jackery.
The unit weighs 6.4kg and has six ports to run items such as portable fridges, lights, cameras and phones at the same time. Jackery said it is 23% more compact than comparable units and includes built-in surge protection.
According to the company, the model uses what it calls ZeroDrain technology, allowing it to lose no more than 5% charge over six months in storage. It uses an LFP battery with more than 6,000 cycles and a stated lifespan of 10 years.
Solar charging for the Explorer 600v2 takes about 4.3 hours under optimal conditions, Jackery said.
Pricing and market
Retail pricing has been set at AUD $2,299 for the Explorer 1500 Ultra and AUD $899 for the Explorer 600v2. The launch comes amid continued competition in portable energy systems, as brands target consumers seeking backup electricity during outages as well as mobile power for travel and outdoor use.
Both products will be available on Jackery's website from 27 May.
Portable power products have gained broader attention in Australia as households and travellers look for alternatives to fuel-based generators, and as severe weather events increase interest in backup electricity. The category also overlaps with demand from tradespeople, campers and content creators who need battery power away from fixed infrastructure.
Steven Wang, Vice President of Americas & ANZ at Jackery, outlined the company's view of the market for the new products.
"These next generation units are engineered for people who do not want to compromise on performance, durability or reliability - while delivering the rugged capability outdoor enthusiasts depend on," Wang said.
