Hungry Jack’s modernises digital services with Azure cloud move
Hungry Jack's has moved its digital operations to Microsoft Azure with the support of Rackspace Technology, aiming to streamline its digital services and reduce operational costs. The fast-food chain is developing a more flexible foundation for apps, loyalty programmes and web platforms to improve reliability and customer interaction.
Cloud migration
Building on previous growth in its digital offering, Hungry Jack's sought a system that could address demand fluctuations and remove limitations experienced with its legacy infrastructure. Rackspace Technology provided engineering expertise and helped design a secure and automated Azure environment using infrastructure as code.
This approach allows Hungry Jack's to deploy new environments as needed and supports faster development and rollout of new features. Automation of infrastructure provisioning and patching has also been introduced to minimise manual errors and boost system uptime. Cost management was a focus, leveraging Azure's pay-as-you-go model for resource optimisation.
Operational control
The Azure migration, underpinned by continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD), has strengthened internal capabilities for Hungry Jack's. Rackspace facilitated skill transfer to both the organisation's internal teams and offshore partners, aiming for long-term operational maturity and self-sufficiency.
Security was embedded into every deployment through DevSecOps principles. This has enabled more frequent feature releases and higher compliance, alongside streamlined processes for patching and monitoring.
Customer experience
Smoother ordering, faster loyalty reward delivery and fewer service outages have emerged as immediate benefits of the new system. Digital initiatives can be launched more rapidly, with reduced release times and improved stability across customer-facing applications. The improved structure also allows the business to redirect resources towards further customer-focused projects.
"We now have the ability to spin up environments as needed - fast, repeatable, and reliable. That's a game-changer for us." said Chad Capiz, Digital Technology Lead, Hungry Jack's.
Cost and sustainability
The adoption of a cloud-based solution is also anticipated to reduce infrastructure costs. More efficient resource use contributes not only to savings but to decreasing the company's total environmental impact.
Future plans
With a modernised digital platform in place, Hungry Jack's is preparing for further expansion in its digital strategy. The company plans to continue extending the capabilities of its apps and online channels.
"We've worked hand-in-hand to build a modern Azure setup that gives them the agility, speed, and security they need to engage customers at scale. We're thrilled to be their innovation partner and help them keep evolving to deliver standout digital experiences," said Adhil Badat, Managing Director, APJ, Rackspace Technology.
