HID to unveil advanced biometric tech at 2024 ASIAL Sydney

Fri, 16th Aug 2024

HID has announced it will present its latest biometric enrolment technology and the Signo Keypad Reader designed for extreme weather conditions at the 2024 ASIAL Security Exhibition and Conference in Sydney. The company aims to demonstrate how its advanced access control and digital identity solutions are driving digital transformation and enhancing workplace experiences for both users and security administrators.

Steve Katanas, Head of ANZ, Physical Access Control Solutions, commented on HID's vision and technology portfolio: "HID's technology extends from physical to digital places to enable people to navigate between both worlds with confidence. Whilst the world is constantly evolving, we manage change proactively by continuously investing in future-proof innovations, so that our partners and customers can always count on us to meet their growing and evolving needs. We look forward to this year's ASIAL Security Exhibition to present the latest access control and trusted identity solutions to the Australian security communities and to drive the market further into the future."

HID's exhibits and demonstrations at the event will include a range of technologies such as biometric enrolment, readers for extreme weather conditions, mobile access, digital identity, and advanced automation solutions.

A highlight will be the FacePod biometric camera, which integrates facial recognition technology with passport scanning at airports to offer a seamless and secure user experience. At boarding gates, the same facial recognition technology can be combined with ASSA ABLOY gates to expedite passenger admission without human intervention, thereby freeing staff to focus on other aspects of customer service.

Another featured innovation is the HID Signo Mechanical Keypad Reader 40T, tailored for extreme conditions. This robust reader ensures reliable access control even in harsh weather environments, demonstrating HID's dedication to product durability and innovation.

The company will also showcase the new White range of the HID Signo Reader lineup. This aesthetically pleasing addition is designed to offer a clean, modern look, providing designers and architects with a minimalistic alternative to traditional access control readers.

In the realm of mobile credentials, HID will present its Mobile Access Solutions compatible with Apple Wallet and Google Wallet. This advancement allows employees to use their smartphones and smartwatches for easy and secure access to restricted areas, adding both convenience and enhanced security. "This integration reflects HID's commitment to providing versatile and user-friendly solutions for modern access control needs," the company stated.

In a practical application of its technology, HID highlighted ISPT's recent implementation of HID Mobile Access via Digital Wallet in partnership with onUgo. This move marks ISPT as the first Commercial Real Estate entity to adopt this technology, showcasing how HID solutions can improve both security and employee experience in a dynamic enterprise environment.

Another significant offering being demonstrated is HID SAFE, described as the only off-the-shelf solution that provides comprehensive digital identity and physical access control. HID SAFE integrates business, physical, and IT systems to streamline physical security compliance for distributed enterprises. The solution manages identity synchronisation and access control globally while monitoring who accesses specific spaces, for how long, and under whose authorisation, thus ensuring a robust security framework.

The HID exhibits will be located at booth N38 at the 2024 ASIAL Security Exhibition from 21-23 August at the ICC Sydney.
