etisalat by e& standardises on Red Hat technologies for network and IT overhaul
Mon, 23rd Oct 2023

Red Hat, the world's provider of open source solutions, announces that the telecom arm of e& (previously Etisalat Group), known as etisalat by e&, plans to standardise on Red Hat technologies across its network and IT on a cloud scale.

etisalat by e& has selected Red Hat platforms for its infrastructure upgrades, including Red Hat OpenShift. This project aims to realise the potential of cloud-native architectures and enhance the efficiency of operations.

Leveraging Red Hat's proficiency in application modernisation, etisalat by e& will be able to transition its existing workloads onto modern cloud platforms, fragment monolithic applications into microservices, and embrace new methodologies such as DevOps and CI/CD to hasten software delivery times.

etisalat by e&, as part of their goal to lead in providing next-generation digital services while fuelling digital transformation on a larger scale, has recognised Red Hat's open-source software as a cornerstone for over a decade. This trust sees Red Hat technologies forming the base for its data centres and telco cloud.

A pivot towards a hybrid cloud strategy constitutes a considerable impetus for this collaboration as it anticipates the freedom to balance workloads across different cloud environments, public or private. With their hybrid cloud remit, Red Hat platforms offer enhanced consistency, superior security, and a simplified reproduction of the conditions for managing applications regardless of the underlying environment, be it public cloud, on-premise, hybrid cloud or edge architecture.

Following these developments, etisalat by e& can expect workflow automation, quality assurance, and lifecycle management advancements. Consequently, their teams will be able to focus on innovation over infrastructure. Additionally, building on Red Hat platforms enables a variety of hardware and software integrations due to the certified interoperability they offer.

etisalat by e& also seeks to streamline business and IT processes through a comprehensive automation approach. Using Red Hat Consulting and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, etisalat by e& prepares for automated infrastructure with an enhanced security profile spanning organisational boundaries.

Red Hat allows a declarative GitOps software-based approach to automation that should lighten the load of repetitive, manual tasks. The result is faster decision-making processes, improved control and compliance, as well as cost-saving process efficiencies that will, in turn, enhance internal and enterprise offerings.

Darrell Jordan-Smith, Senior Vice President of Red Hat, commends the attending surge in edge computing, AI, and advanced software-defined architecture, fuelling the transformation of telecom networks and digital services. He acknowledged the foresight of etisalat by e&.

Darrell Jordan-Smith says: "etisalat by e& is thinking ahead and equipping itself to take advantage of the dynamic cloud landscape by making sure it has the right foundation in place. This organisation-wide framework for tapping Red Hat's latest solutions helps position etisalat by e& to meet its ambitions as a digital pioneer better."

Khalid Murshed, Chief Technology and Information Officer, etisalat by e&, says: "At etisalat by e&, we put customer experience at the forefront of everything we do, taking pride in empowering people and the larger community."

"Red Hat is a strategic partner enabling us to be agile and dynamic to thrive in a multi-cloud future. By giving our teams ongoing access to Red Hat platforms for application development, automation and creative collaboration, we will be able to innovate faster, delivering tangible value to customers in line with our culture and business goals."
