DXN wins AUD $12.2 million AI data centre contract

DXN has signed a AUD $12.2 million contract with an AI compute operator to deliver a 2 megawatt modular data centre.

Under the agreement, DXN will design, engineer, manufacture, deliver, install and commission the facility as a turnkey project. It combines new AI modules built by DXN with upgrades to infrastructure already on the customer's site.

The contract lifts DXN's AI high-performance computing order book to about AUD $21 million. It is the company's second award in the segment in two months and is larger than its first AI HPC contract.

The customer was not identified. DXN said it does not regard the customer's identity as information that would have a material effect on the price or value of its securities.

Detailed design and long-lead procurement will begin immediately. The site is targeted to be operational in early 2027.

DXN will supply a complete 2MW AI HPC data centre with integrated power, cooling, fire detection and suppression, security, and building management systems. The design links purpose-built modules into a single high-density data hall.

The project is the first phase of a potentially larger deployment. The facility has been engineered with expansion in mind, with later stages dependent on successful delivery of the initial phase.

Managing Director Shalini Lagrutta placed the contract in the context of the company's recent activity.

"This contract is a significant step forward for DXN. It is our second AI HPC award in as many months, materially larger than the first. This win demonstrates that the AI HPC module platform we have productised over the last three years is translating into wins across both offshore and domestic markets. Delivering 2MW of high-density GPU capacity on a single site is a meaningful uplift in scale for the product line.

"DXN has been selected because the requirement is one that conventional construction cannot meet within the timeframe. This is the first phase of a potentially larger deployment, and delivering this phase well places DXN in a strong position for future phases. We look forward to delivering the project and supporting future capacity requirements should they grow," said Shalini Lagrutta, Managing Director, DXN.

Production network

To fulfil the order, DXN will use a production network spanning Australia's eastern seaboard, Malaysia and Perth. That network is being supported by additional factory capacity funded through a capital raising completed in June.

DXN manufactures and operates modular data centres in Asia Pacific. Its business includes the design, engineering, manufacture, maintenance and operation of data centres, with operations split between a modular division and a data centre operations division.

The contract is another indication of demand for modular data centre builds linked to AI computing workloads. Operators in this market are seeking dense computing installations that can be deployed faster than conventional data centre construction, particularly where graphics processing units are required for inference and other AI tasks.

DXN said factory-built modules can be tested before shipment and deployed in about five to eight months from contract signing. It argues that timetable addresses customer requirements that standard construction methods may not meet.

Market figures cited by DXN point to continued spending growth in AI infrastructure. The company said the global data centre GPU market was estimated at about USD $99 billion in 2025, while the AI data centre infrastructure market is forecast to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 27.5% through 2032.

DXN also pointed to forecasts that GPU-as-a-service revenue could reach about USD $134 billion by 2030. That market has drawn interest from operators seeking to supply AI computing resources without building and fitting out facilities over multi-year timelines.

For DXN, the latest order extends an AI HPC product line it says has been developed over the past three years. It also gives the company a larger live reference project in a segment where scale and delivery speed are becoming central to competition for contracts.
