DXC Technology & AWS expand partnership to accelerate cloud adoption
DXC Technology and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have announced the next stage of their strategic partnership, an expansion designed to accelerate cloud adoption and digital transformation for nearly 1,000 of DXC's major Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) customers. This expanded agreement allows DXC and its customers to fast-track the migration of their core enterprise systems to the cloud.
Mike Salvino, Chairman, President, and CEO of DXC, explained, "We are proud to be working with AWS to modernise the IT infrastructure of our customers. This expanded agreement incentivises us and our customers to accelerate the migration of their core enterprise systems to the cloud."
"We will leverage AWS's leading generative AI, analytics, compute, database, machine learning, and storage technologies to give our customers an ideal platform to modernise and grow their critical workloads. We expect this transformation path will also contribute to transitioning DXC from operational stability to higher performance."
Adam Selipsky, CEO of AWS, confirmed AWS's commitment to the venture: "Together, AWS and DXC will help change what's possible for enterprise customers and set them up for long-term success. Enterprises that lean into the cloud see immediate benefits, such as increased innovation and lower costs, with the ability to create new and differentiated opportunities for growth."
"AWS is committed to partnering with DXC to transform its service delivery into a cloud-centric model by training more than 15,000 professionals on AWS."
This ambitious expansion of AWS and DXC's partnership includes accelerated cloud migration and modernisation. It involves transforming core business platforms from on-premise environments, a traditional feature of legacy IT outsourcing, to the cloud's flexibility, reliability, and scalability.
A key component of this partnership is the Workforce Transformation initiative. Both companies are set to jointly train and certify 15,000 DXC professionals over the next five years. This will ensure an expanded pool of highly trained and AWS-advanced certified resources to support the customers' cloud migration and modernisation objectives.
Simultaneously, AWS and DXC will aid customers in transitioning from ageing data centre facilities to agile, secure, and sustainable cloud technology provided by AWS. This will spur cloud adoption and lower operational costs for DXC and its customers.
Various AWS and DXC customers and stakeholders have responded positively to the news. Silvia Gabrielli, Chief Digital and Data Officer at Ferrari S.p. said, "This is great news. Ferrari works closely with DXC and AWS as we leverage technological innovation to pursue excellence in design and craftsmanship."
"Both companies understand how important the reliability, security and scalability of our information and communications technology (ICT) systems are to our business. These are the right partners to collaborate with, as our will to progress continues to drive us."
Response from the market has been equally promising. Rick Villars, Group Vice President, IDC, said, "A modern IT environment is critical for enterprises expanding their digital engagement with customers and taking advantage of data to improve decision making."
"This transformational partnership between DXC and AWS addresses the legacy infrastructure shortcomings, workforce skill deficits, and excessively capital-intense cost models that are the most significant barriers preventing timely modernisation."
