Avnet gives back with fun day out
Fri, 17th Jul 2015
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Avnet staff spent a fun filled day at the Amazement Farm and Fun Park on the Central Coast last week – and it was all for a good cause.

Eight Avnet volunteers joined with the Salvation Army to take children from Number 47 Community House on the outing.

Number 47 provides a range of programs for residents of the Ivanhoe Estate in Macquarie Park, with last week's outing a chance for the children, aged 13 to 17 years, to enjoy some fun and time out from their challenging backgrounds.

Avnet says the day was ‘a huge success', with plenty of games – including maze walks, soccer, enchanted forest walks and animal encounters – to keep the kids entertained.

As part of the Avnet Cares program, the distributor plans to offer a volunteer activity each quarter, with staff given one paid day a year to volunteer.

Avnet's Augustine Gomes, Rhett Taggart, Renee Rickard, Shalini Karthikeyan, Mark Johnston, Zoe Gilbert, Maria Tran and Andreia Serrao all joined in the fun and games this time around, as the distributor gave back to the community.
