Zurich Australia & Tesla launch exclusive EV insurance programme

Zurich Australia has entered into an agreement with Tesla to become the preferred insurer for Tesla's electric vehicle (EV) customers in Australia. The partnership will facilitate access to the InsureMyTesla insurance product, which is exclusively provided by Zurich and integrated into the Tesla app via Zurich's Edge technology.

Justin Delaney, Chief Executive Officer of Zurich Australia & New Zealand, said, The collaboration aligns with the swift growth in EV adoption across the country. "EV uptake in Australia is rapidly growing as consumers continue to recognise the importance of lowering their environmental impact. Ensuring these customers receive quality insurance protection is critical for supporting the national transition journey." 

Delaney further remarked, "Zurich and Tesla share a common pursuit to drive a more sustainable future, invest in cutting-edge technology, and provide leading products and services to a loyal customer base. With shared global strength paired with deep local expertise, this is a natural alignment that will benefit many Australians on our roads."

Thom Drew, Tesla's Country Director for Australia & New Zealand, also highlighted Zurich's reputable standing in the insurance market. "Zurich has a long-standing reputation for protecting its customers in Australia and across the globe. As the preferred provider for InsureMyTesla, Zurich offers Tesla customers affordable and convenient insurance, all accessible within the Tesla App," Drew stated.

Drew emphasised the added security that InsureMyTesla brings to Tesla owners. "With InsureMyTesla, Tesla ownership becomes even more secure, giving more Australians the confidence to switch to Electric Vehicles," he said.

The InsureMyTesla product offers comprehensive coverages, including repairs for all vehicle components such as glass, charging equipment, and batteries. Repairs are conducted through Tesla's accredited repair network. The insurance product is available through the Tesla app for all Tesla Model 3 and Model Y customers. Zurich's role as Tesla's preferred insurance provider is not new; the company has been serving in this capacity in Switzerland since 2016.

The partnership between Zurich Australia, and Tesla represents a significant step in enhancing the insurance experience for electric vehicle owners in the country.
