Wasabi appoints Andre Carpenter to lead Australia & New Zealand

Mon, 29th Jul 2024
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Wasabi Technologies has appointed Andre Carpenter as Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand as it expands to meet growing demand for cloud storage in the region.

Carpenter will oversee operations for Wasabi Technologies in both countries and is tasked with growing the provider's partner and customer networks during a period of strong demand for affordable, secure cloud storage across sectors.

In his new role, Carpenter will lead strategies aimed at expanding Wasabi's presence in the region, and manage the company's channel-first go-to-market approach. This approach relies on working closely with technology partners to deliver Wasabi's solutions to organisations undergoing digital transformation.

"I am thrilled to join Wasabi Technologies and be a part of a team of passionate cloud storage experts in the ANZ region," said Carpenter. "Customers are increasingly dealing with unprecedented storage growth in their environments and the unpredictable costs associated with this. Wasabi is best positioned to address these challenges. With Wasabi's channel-first go-to-market strategy, we will work with partners to help customers leverage the power of Wasabi hot cloud storage to secure and store their data."

The appointment comes as cloud storage use grows in Australia. According to the APAC Wasabi Cloud Storage Index, 89% of Australian organisations expect to increase the volume of data they store in the public cloud in 2024. This surge is being driven by requirements for scalable, secure solutions in multiple industries.

Wasabi Technologies has seen adoption of its hot cloud storage offering by a range of organisations in the region, including Charles Darwin University and James Cook University, as well as local government services such as Hauraki District Council. These entities are using Wasabi's services to support cloud migration and manage increasingly complex data storage demands.

With over 15 years of experience in IT sales, channel sales and leadership, Carpenter has held senior regional roles at several global technology companies. Most recently, he was Asia Pacific Director of Cloud Solutions at Crayon, a technology and digital transformation services provider. Carpenter has also held leadership positions at Dell EMC, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, NetApp, Oracle and Veeam.

Wasabi Technologies says it is seeing strong growth as more customers look for reliable, cost-effective cloud storage options to avoid unpredictable fees and vendor lock-in. The company's focus on a broad ecosystem of independent cloud application partners is part of efforts to make its storage accessible to a wide range of sectors and use cases.

Carpenter's appointment marks another step in Wasabi Technologies' growth in the Asia Pacific market, where rising data volumes and increased awareness about data security are driving organisations to reconsider their storage solutions.
