Veritas recognised as Leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant again

Wed, 14th Aug 2024

Veritas Technologies has been recognised as a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Backup and Recovery Software Solutions (EBRSS), marking the 19th consecutive time the company has earned this distinction from Gartner. This recognition underscores Veritas's longstanding reputation for innovation and performance in the realms of data protection, application resilience, and data compliance.

Over the past three decades, Veritas has supported more than 90% of Fortune 100 companies, navigating through numerous IT disruptions. Today, the firm is working closely with clients to manage a new era of data challenges, where data protection and resilience are becoming integral to IT strategies. Veritas’s offerings focus on handling the complexities of modern-day multi-cloud and heterogeneous environments while bolstering defences against ransomware attacks.

Deepak Mohan, Executive Vice President of Engineering at Veritas, highlighted the significance of the company’s latest recognition. “The next frontier in data protection has arrived, where very large numbers of cloud and on-premises applications need to be protected from cyber-attacks, enabling organisations to recover fast and at scale,” he said.

“Veritas is optimised to protect the broadest range of platforms and enables customers to confidently recover from all kinds of breaches. We believe that our consistent position as a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for EBRSS underscores the strength of the Veritas product vision and breadth of our cloud-native data resilience solutions.”

In recent months, Veritas has expanded its product portfolio to include several new capabilities aimed at enhancing data protection and security:

The Veritas 360 Defense is an extensible architecture that amalgamates data protection, data governance, and data security capabilities. This platform integrates with security and cloud infrastructure vendors and has been rigorously tested against real-world ransomware variants in the Veritas REDLab isolated testing environment.

Additionally, Veritas has introduced AI-powered cyber resilience solutions featuring self-defending data protection functionalities. These capabilities allow Veritas NetBackup and Veritas Alta Data Protection to monitor and defend against threats from compromised data protection user credentials. The company has also unveiled a generative AI-powered copilot designed to assist in combating cybercrime and simplifying operational tasks.

Veritas has also launched several enhancements to its Alta cloud solutions. These include simplified consumption reporting, expanded support for workloads such as Entra ID, and cross-platform support for Kubernetes workload recovery.

This consistent recognition and the latest suite of innovations affirm Veritas's commitment to providing robust data resilience solutions in an era where cyber threats and data complexities continue to evolve. The Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Backup and Recovery Software Solutions evaluated the completeness of vision and ability to execute across various vendors. Veritas stands out for its comprehensive and forward-thinking approach.
