Trend Micro has been placed in the Leaders' Quadrant of the 2024 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms (EPP). This marks the 19th consecutive time the company has received this recognition since 2002.
Commenting on the announcement, Mick McCluney, ANZ Field CTO at Trend Micro, noted the increasing importance of endpoint security. "The endpoint is crucial for business operations. That makes it a valuable asset to protect, and a key target for threat actors as well. As endpoints grow in number and complexity, a unified solution is needed. That's why we provide threat protection, detection, and response through a single platform to enhance security, ensure compliance, and lessen the IT workload," McCluney said.
Trend Vision One – Endpoint Security, the firm's flagship product, enhances traditional endpoint security measures by offering protection for physical endpoints, servers, cloud workloads, and virtual machines. The product is integrated with extended detection and response (XDR), targeting proactive security measures. Through third-party integrations, such as threat intelligence, SIEM, orchestration, build pipeline, and attack surface management, it aims to provide a holistic security approach.
According to Gartner, placement in the Leaders' Quadrant is indicative of balanced and consistent progress. Gartner's criteria evaluate both the ability to execute and the completeness of vision. Their research highlights comprehensive workspace security capabilities, extensive endpoint detection and response (EDR) functionalities, and management efficiencies for enterprise customers as key strengths of Leaders in this category. Gartner also notes a trend among Leaders towards providing integrated XDR platforms, enabling these organisations to consolidate their security tools and streamline incident management.
The report titled "Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms" was first published as "Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Antivirus" in 2005-06, and earlier under similar titles in 2002 and 2003. Gartner specifies that their research publications reflect their own analytical views and are not endorsements of any particular vendor or product.
