Trellix partners with Macquarie to boost Australian public sector cybersecurity
Trellix has entered into a multi-year agreement with Macquarie Government to deliver cybersecurity solutions to Australian federal, state, and public sector agencies.
The collaboration is set to streamline access to Trellix's suite of products, with a focus on enhancing cybersecurity resilience across key government bodies. The agreement enables agencies to more easily adopt and deploy Trellix technologies, which are tailored to meet Australia's specific regulatory requirements around security and data sovereignty.
Security requirements
Government departments are recognised targets for cyber attacks, often requiring specialised defences to protect sensitive data. Neville Vincent, Senior Vice President, APJ at Trellix, highlighted this challenge, stating:
Government is the most targeted sector among adversaries, requiring significant cybersecurity protections to ensure defences outpace bad actor capabilities. Trellix already protects some of Australia's most critical organisations across government and regulated industries, and we are committed to deepening our capabilities for these sectors. This partnership with Macquarie Government is an important step in simplifying procurement and deployment of critical cybersecurity technologies for the Australian government to protect its data and networks.
The partnership aims to improve the procurement and deployment process for government agencies while ensuring the protection of public sector data and networks. According to both parties, the arrangement will help meet strict compliance standards and mandates for sovereign cybersecurity capabilities required by Australian regulatory bodies.
Technology offerings
Through this agreement, Macquarie Government will offer a range of Trellix solutions to government clients. These include Trellix Email Security, a platform using artificial intelligence to prevent phishing, impersonation, and data leaks via email. Trellix IVX, designed to conduct deep inspection of files across enterprise systems, integrates with email security and other business infrastructure to bolster defences further.
Additionally, the deployment of Trellix Network Security will enable agencies to detect sophisticated attacks that may bypass conventional defences, assess activity across various operating environments and file types, and help map observed threats to the MITRE ATT&CK framework. This functionality is aimed at improving threat containment and remediation.
Australian federal agencies can also access Trellix Network Forensics (PX), which provides the capacity to capture network data packets for forensic analysis. This solution is intended to help agencies identify and respond to network security incidents more effectively.
Compliance and trust
Aidan Tudehope, Managing Director, Macquarie Government, emphasised the importance of standards and compliance in the Australian government sector. Tudehope said:
The Australian government has strict compliance standards for its agencies as well as mandates for sovereign cybersecurity capabilities. We're eager to collaborate with vendors who demonstrate the same commitment to standards and regulatory compliance in the region as we do at Macquarie. We're thrilled to partner with Trellix to continue to grow its footprint in the Australian public sector by enabling trusted, resilient, and scalable security outcomes.
Trellix Email Security has completed assessment at the Protected Level through the Australian government's Infosec Registered Assessors Programme (IRAP), which is recognised for its comprehensive approach to compliance and cybersecurity. This assessment is expected to make the technology more accessible for government procurement.
The partnership with Macquarie Government builds on Trellix's efforts to support public sector agencies and regulated industries, both within Australia and internationally, by providing security tools tested against robust regulatory standards.
The collaboration comes at a time when Australian government agencies are increasingly required to meet advanced cybersecurity threats with solutions that align with local regulations and sovereignty expectations.
Both Trellix and Macquarie Government intend to support the ongoing needs of public sector customers, with the agreement marking a step towards delivering trusted and scalable security outcomes across Australia's public sector landscape.
