Tim Stollznow wins Pearcey award for MyVenue global success

Mon, 17th Nov 2025

Tim Stollznow has been named the 2025 South Australian Pearcey Entrepreneur of the Year, recognised for his leadership as founder and CEO of MyVenue, a provider of point-of-sale (POS) software for sports, entertainment, and hospitality venues.

Industry reach

MyVenue, established just prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, has expanded its operations across the Asia-Pacific, the UK, and North America. The company's software supports hundreds of venues, enabling commerce in sports such as the NFL, MLB, NBA, and high-profile events like Formula 1 and the upcoming Olympics. MyVenue processes billions of dollars in credit card transactions annually and, earlier this year, received investment from Greater Sum Ventures to accelerate global expansion. The company now employs over 85 staff and reports annual export revenues exceeding USD $20 million.

Business journey

Stollznow's technology career began after studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering, leading to a position at Quest Retail Technology. He became CEO in the late 1990s and drove the company to secure significant market share in sporting arena POS systems in both Australia and the US. Following the sale of Quest to a US listed business in 2008, Stollznow returned to Adelaide, becoming active in the local startup community and indigenous organisations for more than a decade.

Startup challenges

Launching MyVenue in 2019, Stollznow entered a market that, according to his observations, had seen little technological advancement in a decade. "Speed of service and labour is critical to venues. People don't want to miss any of the game or entertainment while they are buying their food," he said when reflecting on the initial development. The onset of COVID presented immediate challenges, but the disruption also provided an opening for MyVenue to gain ground against established rivals.

Growth factors

The company focused on a hosted POS solution with applications tailored for selling food, beverages, and merchandise to fans throughout venues, from suites and bars to car parks. MyVenue's technology was first used in the US in 2021, with rapid adoption by major US stadiums the following year. Its system was deployed at Super Bowl LVII in 2023. Ongoing growth has been driven by Stollznow's emphasis on internal systems, planning, and experience in international expansion.

Community roles

Alongside his corporate responsibilities, Stollznow continues to participate in professional mentorship and industry development through roles including AmCham Australia Governor, adviser, and patron for community clubs. He also volunteers with various indigenous and business associations.

"In line with the qualities we are looking for in the SA Pearcey Entrepreneur of the Year, Tim has taken significant entrepreneurial risks, made a difference through the export success of his company and his commitment to several non-profit and business organisations, and is an inspiration to many others in the business and entrepreneurial community," said Susan Andrews, chair of the SA Pearcey Committee.

Stollznow welcomed the acknowledgement, stating, "Wow! I am honoured to accept the 2025 SA Pearcey Entrepreneur of the Year Award and delighted to be part of the fantastic and quality group of SA leaders who have previously received the Pearcey Entrepreneur Award for South Australia."
