Tech Data to distribute Vertiv's solutions in Australia

Thu, 5th Mar 2020
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Vertiv has today announced the global tech distributor Tech Data will distribute its power, cooling and IT infrastructure solutions and services in Australia.

The partnership between Vertiv and Tech Data will be expanded beyond their close working relationship in the United States into the Australian market, in what Vertiv says is a natural extension.

"Tech Data represents several vendors in Australia that are complementary to Vertiv, and as a result, will now be able to bring fuller solutions to their own reseller customers as well as open new business opportunities for Vertiv," says Vertiv managing director Australia and New Zealand Robert Linsdell.

"At the same time, Tech Data's online shop will give Vertiv's existing resellers access to a more efficient and simpler ordering and logistics process, making it easier for them to service their customers.

Tech Data is one of the world's largest tech distributors and has been named one of FORTUNE's "World's Most Admired Companies" for the last 11 years.

The distributor and its IT partners will have access to Vertiv's full product portfolio from single-phase UPS.

Vertiv has confirmed that this will include the recently released GXT5, a fully modular solution called SmartRow, and racks and cooling solutions.

"Our new relationship with Vertiv is representative of our strategy to deliver higher value by providing channel partners with innovative end-to-end solutions as they embark on their digital transformation journeys," says Tech Data country general manager for Australia and New Zealand Wendy O'Keeffe.

Vertiv says that the expansion of their relationship with Tech Data into the Australian marketplace is reflective of their wider strategy to fortify relationships with other organisations.

"Vertiv continues to strengthen relationships with IT Strategic Alliance partners, such as Dell Technologies and HPE," says Vertiv senior director of channel business Asia Daniel Sim.

"The new partnership with Tech Data will enhance relationships with existing partners and broaden our exposure to thousands of IT resellers.

In addition to appointing Tech Data, Vertiv says it will continue to work with specialist distributors Comsol, on the Avocent range of consoles and switches, and Orion in the mechanical and electrical sectors.

The news of the partnership expansion comes less than a month after Vertiv announced plans to expand its AC Power Customer Experience Centre in Bologna, Italy.

The expansion represents Vertiv's acknowledgement of the trend towards bigger data centers and industrial plants, and the growing customer demand for extended offsite pre-testing to speed up site deployments.

Vertiv says construction on the data center will begin early this year.
