Rokid has launched its AI and AR smart glasses in Australia in partnership with local distributor 360 International Trading.
The company used a Sydney showcase to introduce its eyewear range to local media, retailers and partners as it expands into another consumer market. Its products are now available in more than 100 countries and regions, and it says its international business has grown 300 per cent year on year.
The Australian launch adds local distribution for a company that has built sales momentum in Europe, Southeast Asia, Japan and North America. In Japan, Rokid says its glasses recently became the most successful AI-glasses crowdfunding project in Makuake's history.
The main product introduced to the Australian market was Rokid Glasses, a 49g pair of smart glasses designed to resemble everyday eyewear. The device includes dual-eye Micro-LED displays, a 12MP first-person camera, open-ear speakers and a four-microphone array in an IPX4-rated frame.
Users can take hands-free photos and 1680P video, use a built-in AI assistant, listen to music, receive notifications and access real-time information through the glasses. Rokid also says the product offers real-time translation across 89 languages with live subtitles.
The company also outlined a broader product line. Rokid AR Spatial adds a companion station for 3D cinema, spatial media capture and console gaming, while Rokid Glasses Neo is positioned as a lighter variant with swappable lenses, six colour options, and a focus on audio and voice interaction.
Open AI approach
Rokid Glasses support multiple large language models, including Google Gemini and OpenAI ChatGPT, as part of what the company describes as an open approach that avoids locking users into a single AI system.
The devices also support object and text recognition, voice-controlled navigation and augmented reality features. They can also be fitted with prescription and astigmatism lenses through a magnetic clip-on system.
Rokid has also built a developer and partner network around its platform. It says the ecosystem includes more than 30,000 registered XR developers and partners working on applications in translation, accessibility, productivity, entertainment and workplace use.
That could become relevant in Australia if the company broadens its presence beyond consumer electronics and into business use. Rokid says it sees opportunities to work with local developers, retailers, creators and solution providers.
Zoro Shao, Global General Manager at Rokid, framed the Australian launch as part of a wider shift in how consumers interact with computing devices.
"At Rokid, we believe the next evolution of computing will happen through intelligent wearables that seamlessly integrate into everyday life," Shao said. "Australia is an important market for us as consumers increasingly look for technology that feels intuitive, immersive and human-centred. This launch represents more than introducing a product - it is about opening a new chapter for AI-powered interaction and spatial computing in the region."
Peter Zhuang, Director at 360 International Trading, said the distributor had tracked Rokid's progress in other markets before bringing the products to Australia.
"We've been watching Rokid's momentum globally and knew the time was right to bring this technology to Australian consumers. Smart glasses have often felt like a concept rather than an everyday product - Rokid changes that, and we're excited to introduce it to this market," Zhuang said.
Pricing and rollout
Pre-order pricing for Rokid Glasses in Australia is AUD $999, compared with a standard retail price of AUD $1,099. The pre-order package also includes a battery capsule and a clip-on sunglass.
Sales in Australia are expected to run through authorised local retailers. Products sold locally will carry a one-year warranty.
Founded in 2014, Rokid develops augmented reality and AI hardware and software for consumers, developers and businesses. The company says it has received several CES Innovation Awards and five German iF Design Awards, and has built what it describes as China's largest XR developer community, with more than 30,000 registered developers.
Established in 2020, 360 International distributes consumer electronics and home appliances across Australia and New Zealand, with services spanning logistics, retail and after-sales support for global brands.
Rokid says its glasses are among the first in the category to support both Google Gemini and OpenAI ChatGPT.
