PureVPN launches ChatGPT tool for VPN server access

Fri, 12th Jun 2026 (Today)

PureVPN has launched an integrated ChatGPT tool that helps users find and connect to VPN servers through natural-language prompts. The feature is available through the ChatGPT app ecosystem in 10 markets.

The in-chat application lets users ask questions such as which server is best for gaming in Germany, how to connect to Japan, why a VPN connection is slow, or which server suits streaming in their location. ChatGPT then returns recommended VPN locations and generates a deep link that opens the PureVPN app for the connection.

PureVPN believes the service is the first commercially available VPN integration of its kind within ChatGPT. It is available in the United States, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Japan, the Netherlands, Singapore, Switzerland and the UAE.

The launch reflects a broader push by consumer technology companies to put conversational interfaces in front of services that previously relied on menus, settings pages and manual searches. In this case, ChatGPT acts as a front-end guide while the connection process remains inside the PureVPN app.

How It Works

Users interact with ChatGPT to request a location, troubleshoot a connection, or seek a recommendation for streaming, gaming or travel. The chatbot responds with suggested VPN endpoints and a direct path into the native app, where the VPN session is established.

PureVPN said no user data is shared with ChatGPT during that process. It described ChatGPT as an interactive control panel, while encryption and the VPN connection remain within the PureVPN application.

That distinction addresses a central issue for privacy products adopting generative AI tools. VPN providers market themselves on data protection, so chatbot-led interfaces raise questions about what user information is exposed to third-party systems and where sensitive actions take place.

PureVPN said the design avoids handing user data to ChatGPT and limits the chatbot's role to recommendations and link generation. It also presents the feature as a way to reduce the need to browse server lists manually or adjust settings directly.

Use Cases

PureVPN is targeting several common VPN use cases. For streaming, users can ask which regions offer access to specific content and then jump to the suggested server location. For gaming, they can request recommendations based on region and connection needs. Travellers can ask about browsing regions and location choices while abroad.

These scenarios reflect an effort to simplify a category that can be confusing for less technical users. Large server lists, feature settings and slow-connection troubleshooting can create friction, especially when users are trying to solve a problem quickly.

Ali Khan, Head of Product at PureVPN, framed the release as a response to that complexity. "This lets users focus on what they want to do rather than on how VPN technology works, and is a natural next step as AI becomes the new interface layer for the internet," Khan said.

He added that users increasingly want guidance and immediate action rather than manual setup. "Users no longer want to manually search, compare and configure. They want secure and assured guidance in route selections, immediate answers and instant actions. This integration removes friction from the VPN experience and transforms connectivity into a natural, frictionless conversation," Khan said.

AI Interface

The product arrives as technology companies test whether generative AI can replace parts of traditional search, navigation and support workflows. Rather than using chatbots only as question-answering tools, companies are beginning to deploy them as action layers between the user and an app.

For VPN providers, that could reshape how customers discover server locations, understand regional availability and resolve technical issues. It may also intensify competition around ease of use, as providers try to distinguish their apps in a market where many services offer similar core functions.

PureVPN said the feature turns the process into a simple sequence of asking, discovering and connecting. The integration is available now through the ChatGPT app ecosystem.
