Proofpoint appoints Nelson Soon to VP role in Asia Pacific & Japan
Proofpoint has announced the appointment of Nelson Soon as Vice President of Channels and Alliances for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ). Soon will manage Proofpoint's channel and alliance operations in the APJ region, stressing the company's commitment to its channel strategy and investment in the expansion of its partner ecosystem.
Nelson Soon remarked on his new role, saying, "Proofpoint is the trusted cybersecurity partner to some of the world's most respected companies and is committed to its channel go-to-market strategy in APJ, giving us an exceptional opportunity for growth." He went on to highlight the company's product innovations, stating, "Proofpoint continues to develop and launch innovative products to protect its customers. We believe this will help to expand our ecosystem's reach and allow our channel partners to grow their Proofpoint business profitably whilst increasing customer relevance."
Soon emphasised the significance of partners, commenting, "Partners play a critical role as trusted advisors in helping customers define and implement their security strategies. My role is to help facilitate their contributions within the framework of human-centric offerings that best address the threats shaping the current cybersecurity landscape."
Based out of Singapore, Soon brings extensive experience in IT and cybersecurity to his new position at Proofpoint. Prior to joining Proofpoint, he held senior channel leadership roles at several firms including Imperva, Gigamon, Extreme Networks, Ixia, and Agilent Technologies. Imperva has since been acquired by Thales.
