Wed, 19th Jun 2024

NTT DATA has announced the appointment of Abhijit Dubey as Global Chief Executive Officer of its international business. Abhijit Dubey marks a significant milestone as NTT DATA's first non-Japanese CEO and the first CEO of Indian origin to lead a Japanese conglomerate.

The announcement coincides with the finalisation of a merger between NTT DATA and NTT Ltd., creating a global entity valued at over USD $30 billion. Dubey, who previously served as CEO of NTT Ltd., will now oversee 150,000 employees worldwide, focusing on accelerating growth beyond the Japanese market.

Dubey’s role involves leading NTT DATA in providing a range of services including business and technology consulting, data and artificial intelligence, industry solutions, cloud services, cybersecurity, and managed services for applications, infrastructure, and connectivity. The merger has already boosted NTT DATA's international footprint to approximately USD $18 billion, placing it sixth in the global IT services market share.

NTT DATA is a part of the NTT Group, a company with a 150-year legacy that invests USD $3.6 billion annually in research and development. This strategic position allows the company to support organisations in navigating contemporary challenges while fostering future innovations. Dubey’s extensive background in the industry is expected to aid clients in leveraging rapid technological advancements and modernising their operations.

Before joining NTT in 2021, Dubey spent over two decades at McKinsey & Company, where he advised leading global technology companies and CEOs. He was instrumental in launching McKinsey’s global cloud computing initiatives.

Commenting on his new role, Dubey said, “I am deeply honoured to lead the company at a time of major technological change. Technology must drive positive change in the world, and I believe that NTT DATA’s broad capabilities in consulting, infrastructure, AI, cloud, and cybersecurity, position us to deliver meaningful impact. I’m privileged to lead a team that is committed to clients and am excited for this next phase of growth.”

Kazuhiro Nishihata, who Dubey succeeds, spoke positively about his successor’s appointment. He stated, “NTT DATA has built the world’s broadest and most comprehensive set of capabilities and industry expertise, alongside unparalleled geographic reach and a world-leading team – positioning the company perfectly to help clients as they embark on transformational technology projects. I am confident that Abhijit is the right person to lead NTT DATA through its next phase and accelerate its growth globally while continuing to foster an environment of innovation and ongoing success. I wish him all the very best for the future.”

NTT DATA is renowned for serving 75% of the Fortune Global 100 and invests significantly in research and development to assist organisations and society in navigating the digital future.
