Netskope named leader in Gartner SASE & SSE reports

Netskope has been named a Leader in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for both Secure Access Service Edge Platforms and Security Service Edge. The SASE ranking marks its third consecutive year in that category, and the SSE ranking its fifth.
The dual recognition places Netskope among a small group of security suppliers seeking to sell integrated networking and security services through a single cloud-delivered platform. Gartner's SASE category combines wide area networking and security functions, while SSE focuses on the security layer, including controls for web, cloud and application access.
In the SASE report, Netskope said it was positioned highest for Ability to Execute. In the related Critical Capabilities report, it said it was the only supplier ranked highest in three use cases: Foundational SASE Platform, Zero Trust SASE Platform and Sovereign SASE.
For the SSE market, Gartner has named Netskope a Leader every year since the report was introduced, according to the company. In the accompanying Critical Capabilities report for SSE, Netskope said it ranked among the two highest-scoring vendors across all four use-case categories.
Market position
The announcements come as suppliers across network security, cloud security and connectivity argue that customers want to consolidate products as artificial intelligence use grows and corporate networks become harder to secure. Companies in this market are trying to show they can provide both traffic management and data protection without forcing customers to stitch together multiple point products.
Netskope is using the Gartner rankings to strengthen its position in that consolidation trend. Its core pitch centres on Netskope One, which combines security and networking tools under one platform, and NewEdge, its private cloud network for delivering those services.
Netskope also highlighted Gartner forecasts suggesting the market is moving towards broader platform buying. According to those forecasts, by 2028 half of new SASE deployments will be based on a single-vendor SASE platform, up from 30% in 2025, while 70% of SD-WAN purchases will form part of those single-vendor offers.
Another Gartner forecast cited by Netskope said that by 2028, vendors without a feature-rich SASE platform, strong AI controls and integrations such as data security posture management and secure enterprise browser functions would need partners to remain competitive. A separate planning assumption said that by 2027, 30% of organisations would require comprehensive sovereignty of their cloud security controls because of geopolitical pressures.
AI and sovereignty
Those themes are becoming more visible in security buying decisions. Sovereignty requirements have moved higher on the agenda for multinational companies and public sector bodies seeking tighter control over where security inspection, policy enforcement and data handling take place.
At the same time, the arrival of AI agents and other non-human identities is changing how suppliers describe access control. Security vendors increasingly argue that tools first designed around employees and managed devices must now govern software agents, cloud services and automated workflows that interact with sensitive corporate data.
Netskope made both arguments in outlining its strategy. It said its architecture applies zero-trust principles to access and data protection while adding AI-related controls and workflow automation.

On the SSE ranking, he made a similar point, linking it to longer-term consistency in Gartner's assessments.

Competitive field
The SASE and SSE markets remain crowded, with established networking companies, firewall suppliers and cloud security specialists all competing for share. Recognition in analyst rankings often plays an outsized role in enterprise procurement because large customers use those reports as one input when creating supplier shortlists.
Even so, the two Gartner categories measure slightly different parts of the market, and suppliers often perform differently across them depending on whether they have stronger networking assets, deeper security controls or broader global infrastructure. Netskope's emphasis on both reports suggests it wants to be seen not only as an SSE specialist but also as a broader platform supplier able to address full SASE deployments.
Netskope said thousands of customers use its technology, including more than 30% of the Fortune 100, and framed the latest rankings as evidence that buyers are looking for unified security and networking products as AI adoption and sovereignty demands reshape enterprise requirements.
