Microlise names Dean Garvey-North as new technology chief

Thu, 15th Jan 2026

Microlise has appointed Dean Garvey-North as Chief Technology Officer, replacing Duncan McCreadie, who has retired after 10 years in the role.

Garvey-North joins Microlise's senior leadership team with a background spanning utilities, consulting, and technology leadership roles. Microlise said he will lead its technology strategy and product development.

The company operates in the fleet management market, supplying connected technology used by logistics and transport operators. Microlise said it has recorded growth across Australia and New Zealand over the past year, alongside new customer wins and expanded operations.

Microlise also said it has a strong position in the retail and grocery segment in Australia and New Zealand. The company said almost all Australian and New Zealand supermarket chains currently use Microlise products.

Executive background

Garvey-North most recently worked as a digital, data and technology executive in the utilities sector, according to Microlise. He has also worked as a management consultant partner.

Microlise said Garvey-North is a governing body member of Gartner's Chief Information Officer community. The company said the community is responsible for shaping future UKI digital and data strategies. Microlise also said he is a contributing member of the Forbes' CIO Technology Council.

Microlise described Garvey-North's experience as including "strategic leadership of transformation functions, data and AI, business performance and insights, innovation and IT". The company also cited "best-in-sector regulatory scores for cybersecurity strategy and investment, along with industry awards".

Technology priorities

Microlise said Garvey-North will lead the company's technology strategy and oversee innovation across product development and infrastructure. It also said he will align initiatives with business goals and foster a culture of high-performance engineering.

Garvey-North said Microlise operates in a logistics market where operational efficiency remains a focus for customers.

"I am delighted to be joining such a forward-looking organisation that is at the very top of its game," said Dean Garvey-North, Chief Technology Officer, Microlise.

"Microlise's products in the logistics sector are extremely exciting as the drive towards more efficient operations intensifies. It's no small task to be trusted with the development of tools that help achieve this, but it's one I'm ready for," said Garvey-North.

"I'm particularly inspired by Microlise's role in shaping the future of the industry - setting new standards for innovation, sustainability and performance," said Garvey-North.

Leadership change

McCreadie's departure closes a decade as Microlise's technology lead. Microlise Chief Executive Nadeem Raza linked the handover to continuity in product direction and the company's plans for further growth.

"I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Duncan McCreadie for his outstanding leadership and contribution over the past decade as our Chief Technology Officer. His commitment and technical vision have been instrumental in shaping Microlise's success and establishing our reputation for innovation and reliability," said Nadeem Raza, Chief Executive Officer, Microlise.

"At the same time, we are delighted to welcome Dean to Microlise as our new CTO. His wealth of experience and strategic insight will be invaluable as we build on our strong foundations and continue to drive growth. Dean's appointment reinforces our ambition to remain a trusted and forward-thinking name in transport technology, supporting our customers to operate more efficiently, safely and sustainably," said Raza.

Microlise said Garvey-North will steer the business through its next phase of growth in Australia, New Zealand and other markets.
