LevelBlue enhances global cybersecurity with Cybereason acquisition
LevelBlue has finalised its acquisition of Cybereason, a cybersecurity company specialising in extended detection and response (XDR), threat intelligence, and digital forensics.
The acquisition adds to LevelBlue's capabilities in managed detection and response (MDR), incident response, and consulting, and extends its global coverage, particularly in Japan.
Service integration
The integration brings together Cybereason's XDR platform and digital forensics with LevelBlue's managed security services portfolio. The company aims to offer clients improved detection, investigation, and response through artificial intelligence and increased human expertise.
New and existing clients are now able to access combined endpoint security offerings and incident response technologies designed to reduce reaction times.
"Today marks an exciting next chapter for LevelBlue and Cybereason. The completion of this acquisition brings together unmatched XDR, MDR, and DFIR capabilities, powered by AI and elite human expertise, to deliver the most unified and proactive cybersecurity experience in the market. Our shared goal is to help clients move beyond reactive defense to achieve true cyber resilience," said Bob McCullen, Chairman and CEO, LevelBlue.
Expanded investments
As part of the transaction, LevelBlue received investment from SoftBank, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, and Liberty Strategic Capital. Steven T. Mnuchin, managing partner at Liberty Strategic Capital and former US Treasury Secretary, has joined the LevelBlue board of directors. The company stated that these investments indicate external confidence in its long-term objectives.
Enhanced AI and research
The combined group aims to leverage Cybereason's AI-driven threat intelligence and unify Cybereason's research team with LevelBlue SpiderLabs. This integration is expected to provide clients with increased visibility into new cyber threats and attack tactics, enabling faster and more accurate response through reduced false positives and improved system integration across various technology stacks.
Geographic coverage
Cybereason's established presence in Japan has broadened LevelBlue's regional capabilities in Asia. The company reports that this positions it to deliver services for multinational clients requiring incident response, offensive and defensive security assessments, and real-time monitoring both regionally and globally.
Portfolio expansion
The Cybereason deal follows LevelBlue's recent acquisitions of Trustwave, Stroz Friedberg, and Elysium Digital. These additions expand the company's capacity in digital forensics and incident response, as well as technology-agnostic security offerings for organisations with diverse IT infrastructures.
"By combining Cybereason's AI innovations with LevelBlue's proprietary and leveraged agentic AI, LevelBlue can operate at machine speed while harnessing human expertise to significantly enhance detection, investigation, and response. This advanced integration not only accelerates and strengthens threat eradication but also improves accuracy by reducing false positives, enabling teams to focus on real threats with greater confidence and efficiency," said McCullen.
