Layercake adds Ant Media for ultra-low latency media streaming
Layercake has announced the integration of Ant Media Server within its Streamcake platform, providing support for dynamic, ultra-low latency streaming workflows.
The integration brings together Ant Media's ultra-low latency streaming engine, known for its support of WebRTC and other protocols, with Streamcake's orchestration and automation features which streamline operational and publishing workflows. The joint solution is aimed at enabling robust and scalable media workflows suitable for both live and on-demand applications.
Technical capabilities
Layercake's integration of Ant Media Server introduces several enhancements for media teams and broadcasters. Among the primary benefits is dynamic provisioning, which allows users to deploy Ant Media Server workloads across their choice of cloud, on-premises, or hybrid environments. Streamcake manages the orchestration of this provisioning, facilitating efficient processing that adapts to different operational and geographic requirements.
The solution's ultra-low latency capability is designed to deliver sub-0.5 second latency over WebRTC. This feature aims to support real-time use cases, including live auctions, sports, gaming, and telehealth scenarios, where responsiveness is critical.
Automated orchestration is also part of the offering, allowing Streamcake users to schedule and align Ant Media stream processing, recording, and publishing workflows with real-time events. In addition, the integration is built to support a wide range of ingest and delivery protocols such as WebRTC, RTMP, RTSP, HLS, SRT, LL-HLS/DASH, WHIP/WHEP, Zixi and CMAF. This level of protocol flexibility is designed to make the service compatible with diverse broadcast environments.
Security is another key focus in the integration, which includes token-based access control, IP whitelisting, and JWT support for credential management and secure streaming.
Industry applications
The companies have highlighted that this integrated solution is applicable across a variety of real-time use cases. These include live interactive broadcasting, real-time shopping, remote healthcare, and live betting, as well as other scenarios where low latency and automated workflows are critical factors.
