Itron & CLS partner to deliver smart lighting across Australia
Itron has entered a partnership with Connected Lighting Solutions to expand the availability of smart lighting infrastructure throughout Australia, aiming to facilitate the deployment of advanced control technologies for street lighting in cities across the country.

Connected Lighting Solutions, a division of Beacon Lighting Group, will support the roll-out of Itron's Networked Lighting Controller hardware and CityEdge software platform. The collaboration is structured through the Itron Engage Sales Channel Partner Programme, allowing Connected Lighting Solutions to apply its expertise in urban street lighting projects alongside Itron's technological offerings.
Urban focus
With a majority of the Australian population living in urban centres, modern street lighting systems are viewed as critical for improving city services, boosting public safety and reducing operational costs related to municipal lighting. Updated lighting infrastructure also supports city and council efforts to lower emissions and reduce maintenance requirements for street lighting grids.
Market reach
Participation in Itron's channel program provides Connected Lighting Solutions with access to training, technical resources and procurement support.
These measures are intended to help utilities and local governments streamline their transition to smart street lighting by offering local technical expertise and simplifying installation processes.
The smart lighting technology to be deployed includes Itron's CityEdge platform. CityEdge supports features such as remote monitoring, adaptive control schedules and live outage detection, offering councils and utilities tools to optimise energy usage and fault detection processes. Connected Lighting Solutions will provide support from project inception through to maintenance.
