ISPT pioneers smartphone access in Australian office buildings

Wed, 24th Jul 2024

Australian commercial real estate firm ISPT has deployed cutting-edge digital technology that allows employees to access corporate spaces and amenities using smartphones and smartwatches. This street-to-seat employee badge technology, powered by HID Mobile Access and provisioned by technology partner onUgo, has been initially implemented at the Sydney hub. Future deployment is planned for ISPT properties in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth.

ISPT is the first commercial real estate firm in Australia to introduce HID's employee badge in a digital wallet. This initiative aims to enhance workplace efficiency, security, and employee satisfaction. The technology enables seamless access to office spaces, meeting rooms, lockers, and digital hardware such as printers without the need for traditional swipe cards.

"Our partnership with HID and technology partner onUgo is a testament to ISPT's commitment to innovation and to providing best in class experiences for our tenant partners," said Nicole Ward, Head of Portfolio (Office) for ISPT. "By adopting HID Mobile Access, we are not only enhancing the security and efficiency of our operations across our office portfolio, but also offering our tenant partners a level of convenience and flexibility that is critical in today's fast-paced and technology-driven world. This is just the beginning of our journey towards creating a more connected, innovative, and sustainable experience within our office communities."

ISPT's deployment of the technology reinforces its commitment to harnessing advanced property technology (PropTech) for improving tenant experiences. "We are proud to partner with both ISPT and onUgo in revolutionising access control within the commercial real estate sector in Australia. Our mobile access solutions, delivered to market by highly skilled technology partners, are designed to offer unparalleled security and convenience, and we are excited to see how ISPT will leverage this technology to benefit their tenant partners' operations," said Steve Katanas, regional head of mature markets, ANZ, Physical Access Control Solutions, HID.

Benefits of the HID employee badge in a digital wallet include enhanced security through advanced encryption and security protocols, unprecedented convenience by eliminating the need for physical badges and access cards, and a commitment to sustainability by reducing the need for plastic card production and disposal. Additionally, this initiative supports ISPT's broader vision to create a technologically advanced, efficient, and flexible working environment that meets the evolving needs of its workforce.

The deployment at ISPT's 345 George Street and 24 York Street locations in Sydney, as well as at 477 Pitt Street in Sydney's Tech Central, marks the initial phase with more precincts to follow in other cities. By leveraging innovative approaches to building access management, onUgo enables ISPT and its tenants to enhance workplace efficiency and end-user experience.

ISPT's adoption of HID's mobile access complements its market-leading environmental, social, and governance (ESG) approach, ensuring responsible and sustainable practices across its property portfolio. This development aligns with ISPT's focus on delivering sustainable, long-term returns and maintaining its position as a leading unlisted property fund manager in Australia.
