Gallagher Security has opened contributions for its annual global security industry research project, with findings to feed into the company's 2027 Security Industry Trends Report.

The New Zealand-based security firm is seeking input from consultants, integrators, end users, IT leaders, and channel partners worldwide. The survey is designed to gather views on the pressures, priorities, and technology shifts affecting the security sector.

Industry input

The report has become an annual benchmarking tool for organisations assessing strategy and market direction. Gallagher plans to publish the next edition as a free report for the wider industry.

The research will examine changing organisational priorities, technology adoption, operational pressures, and the role of security in modern businesses. Gallagher has redesigned the survey to make it quicker to complete and easier to use on mobile devices, with responses expected to take about 10 minutes.

Industry research has become a common way for security vendors and service providers to gather direct feedback from buyers, advisers, and partners as physical security, cyber security, and workplace technology increasingly overlap. These reports are often used by suppliers and customers to compare spending priorities, assess adoption trends, and identify concerns such as staffing, compliance, and risk management.

Global reach

Gallagher operates in integrated security systems, with a customer base spanning government, military, commercial, industrial, healthcare, transport, education, and small business users. It serves organisations in 140 countries.

Mark Junge, a company executive, said the project is intended to capture broad industry opinion rather than a narrow product view.

"This project is built on a belief that's deeply important to us at Gallagher Security: when we share knowledge openly, the entire industry benefits. Every year, we hear from professionals across multiple industries who tell us they use our Trends Report to help shape strategy, navigate change, and better understand where the market is heading. That's what makes this initiative so valuable: it reflects the collective voice of the global security community," said Mark Junge, Company Executive, Gallagher Security.

Wider participation

He said the company also wants to widen participation this year.

"This year, we're encouraging even more people to contribute their insights and experiences. Every response helps strengthen the quality of the research and ensures the report continues to be a practical, relevant tool the industry can learn from together," said Junge.

Gallagher's outreach comes as security teams take on a broader remit across physical access, site resilience, digital systems, and workplace safety. That has increased demand for research tracking how organisations are allocating budgets, selecting suppliers, and responding to operational strain.

Market reference

For vendors in the sector, independently sourced or broadly contributed market feedback can help shape product planning and partner strategy. For end users, the same material can provide a reference point when deciding whether their own priorities align with wider market movements.

The latest round of responses will form the basis of the next report, which Gallagher expects to release later in the financial year as a publicly available resource. The survey is open to security professionals across sectors.
