Fujifilm & Igloo Vision unveil 360 booth at EduTech 2024

FUJIFILM Australia and its partner, Igloo Vision, are set to present a fully immersive 360 booth experience at EduTech 2024 in Melbourne. The exhibition will showcase at Fujifilm's booth 1604 and promises to offer attendees a unique and engaging experience.

The immersive booth, which premiered at InfoComm in Las Vegas in June and was recognised as one of the top booths to visit, features walls, floor, and ceiling projections, powered by a combination of FUJIFILM FP-Z6000 Projectors and Igloo Vision's award-winning software, Igloo Core Engine.

Evidencing a growing interest from educational institutions worldwide in using immersive spaces for various applications, the FUJIFILM and Igloo Vision collaboration aims to harness this enthusiasm by demonstrating the potential of VR, XR, and 360 content. In educational settings, these applications include virtual field trips to unreachable destinations, historic landmark tours, and immersive sports viewing experiences, among others.

The display at EduTech 2024 will employ eight FP-Z6000 Projectors, which are noted for their 6000-lumen output, ultra-short throw ratio of 0.34-0.37, and versatile installation options. The projections will be supported by Igloo Core Engine, a software platform designed to simplify the creation and utilisation of immersive spaces.

One of the notable features of the Igloo Core Engine is True Perspective, which automatically adjusts content to ensure a realistic viewing experience. This feature is further enhanced by its ability to modify perspectives in real-time based on the primary viewer's position, making the immersive environment more dynamic and engaging.

Visitors at EduTech 2024 will have the chance to step into Fujifilm's custom-built space and experience content curated in collaboration with partners such as Atmosphaeres, Blend Media, and RapturousMedia. This content will range from swimming with whales to witnessing the aurora borealis.

The immersive technology demonstrated will target several use cases including education, real estate, themed entertainment venues, art galleries and museums, and various industries that utilise simulations and training like the military and emergency services.

The booth will also feature a sophisticated 8.1 channel sound system to complement the visual projections, provided by Optimal Audio, TAG, and QSYS. The combination of visual and audio technology aims to provide a fully-engaging sensory experience for attendees.

"For years, shared immersive spaces were used almost exclusively for entertainment. Now organisations are finding that they create meaningful engagement among colleagues, customers, and students," noted Simon Murphy, National Business Development Manager for projectors at FUJIFILM Australia's Optical Devices Division. Murphy emphasised the capability of FUJIFILM Z-Series Projectors to "transform spaces into stories," due to their discreet installation and projection versatility.

The collaboration between Fujifilm and Igloo Vision, which spans nearly five years, has resulted in immersive experiences worldwide. Colin Yellowley, founder of Igloo Vision, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "More and more clients are asking for floor projection, and Fujifilm Z-Series projectors have become our go-to." He added that incorporating ceiling projections with the FP-Z6000 would enhance the holistic immersive experience at EduTech 2024.
