Epson launches new large-format document scanner
Epson Australia has launched their WorkForce DS-32000 large-format document scanner, expanding their existing line-up of commercial scanners. The scanner has been designed to meet the needs of high-volume enterprise and service bureau office environments.
With modern offices increasingly turning to digital document management systems, it is important that paper documents are properly scanned and legible for their intended user. The ability to quickly scan large volumes of documents to create archive-quality, searchable documents is essential to ensure the smooth running of the modern office.
The DS-32000 offers speeds of up to 90 pages-per-minute with a peak duty cycle of 40,000 sheets per day. The scanner can accommodate sheets up to 304.8mm x 5,588mm, folded pages, plastic cards, seal envelopes and passports, all scanned to resolutions up to 600DPI.
The optional A4 (DS-5500) and A3 (DS-50000) flatbed scanners enable scanning of books, bound documents and other media.
Epson's new scanner is designed with a space-saving footprint for the desktop, catering for both horizontal and vertical feed options. The device can also be easily rotated for convenient storage.
Epson Australia product manager Paul Cunningham says, "Expanding on our commitment to provide a breadth of digital imaging solutions for every business need, we are adding to our award-winning document scanner portfolio with two new A3 document scanners that directly answer customers' needs for high-speed at an affordable price point. To meet today's demanding office requirements, the innovative DS-32000 and DS-30000 are designed to maximise productivity while delivering an optimised user experience.
The DS-32000 is equipped with a set of productivity tools, including a 120-sheet Auto Document Feeder, dual-sided scanning, a programmable 2.7" touchscreen and paper-protection function. The scanner features advanced paper feed technology which includes Slow Speed Mode for delicate sheets, Double-Feed Detection and Paper Protection to prevent misfeeds or damage and Dynamic Skew Correction to automatically detect and correct skews. With the DS-32000, Epson hopes to take the hassle out of digitising piles of documents.
The TWAIN, ISIS, WIA, SANE and ICA drivers allow for compatibility with most office document management systems. With the included OCR and Document Capture Pro 3.0 software with inbuilt OCR functionality, users can create searchable PDFs and scan, store and share important documents to online storage accounts. Output format can be selected from BMP, JPEG, TIFF, multi-TIFF, PDF, searchable PDF, secure PDF, PDF/A, JPEG(Colour/Greyscale), PNG, docx, xlsx and pptx.
Featuring colour contact image sensor optics for full wavelength reproduction, including highlighted text, the DS-32000 provides scans with faithful colour reproduction. There are also options to improve Images using dust removal, colour correction and unsharp mask with noise reduction.
The WorkForce DS-30000 is similar to the DS-32000, but without the adjustable chassis and has a lower daily duty cycle of 30,000 documents. The Epson DS-32000 (RRP $5,499) will be available in Australia from May 2020.
