Tue, 20th Aug 2024

Dynabook ANZ has announced the launch of the Portégé X40-M, a laptop designed for business users seeking high performance, robust connectivity and enhanced productivity.

The Portégé X40-M is positioned as part of Dynabook's commitment to providing devices that combine computing power, secure connectivity and support for artificial intelligence capabilities.

Angela Walker, General Manager of Dynabook ANZ, commented: "The Portégé X40-M represents a significant leap forward in laptop technology. Dynabook is constantly raising the bar to deliver devices that combine high performance with advanced connectivity and security. This great new addition to our product lineup exemplifies that we will continue to bring innovative solutions that enhance our customers' productivity, support their dynamic work environments and are AI ready."

The laptop is powered by the latest Intel Core Ultra processors with an integrated Neural Processing Unit and Intel Arc graphics. These processors are aimed at users who require advanced AI-driven functionalities, allowing tasks to be automated and optimised for improved efficiency. The system includes extended battery performance to support the working day.

Connectivity has been given significant attention, with the Portégé X40-M offering support for Wi-Fi 6E, alongside a range of physical ports. Users will have access to HDMI, Thunderbolt 4, USB Type-C, USB Type-A and a microSD card slot, providing flexibility for various peripherals in different environments.

The Portégé X40-M is equipped with onboard memory (RAM) configurable up to 64GB. This capacity is aimed at professionals handling demanding software applications or working with large datasets. The company states that this level of memory supports smooth performance and efficient multitasking, even under intensive workloads.

The device features a lightweight yet sturdy aluminium chassis, with a focus on combining durability and design. The build is intended to appeal to users seeking both functionality and visual appeal in their work devices.

The Portégé X40-M includes a 60Wh AI-optimised battery, designed to provide long-lasting power throughout the working day. It also features Sleep & Charge technology, which allows users to charge USB devices while the laptop is shut down.

For remote collaboration and video conferencing, the laptop incorporates a 5MP AI-enhanced webcam, dual microphones, and an audio system with DTS processing. These features are designed to produce clear visuals and audio for meetings and online interactions.

The laptop offers a 14-inch WUXGA display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, and the option for a touch display. This is intended to facilitate multitasking and productivity, providing a larger vertical workspace as required by some professional use cases.

Security is emphasised with the inclusion of Windows 11 Secured-core protection on vPro models, integrating both hardware-based and firmware-level defences. Dynabook aims to guard against advanced cyber threats and to keep data secure from system start-up. The laptop's configuration is intended to meet the growing need for protection in modern business environments.

The Portégé X40-M features a dedicated key for Microsoft Copilot, providing users with direct access to an AI assistant for streamlining tasks such as launching applications and changing system settings. This can be done using either voice commands or text-based input. Availability of the Copilot feature may vary by market.

The Portégé X40-M is set to be available at the end of August 2024, with prices starting at AUD $1,540 RRP including GST.
