Denodo unveils AI-powered Denodo Platform 9.0 for enhanced data use
Denodo has announced the release of Denodo Platform 9.0, which introduces a series of new features leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance data delivery and management capabilities. The updated platform aims to improve how users, regardless of technical background, interact with and utilise data.
A significant feature of Denodo Platform 9.0 is its AI-driven support for natural-language queries, which enables users to interact with data by typing questions in everyday language. This eliminates the need for knowledge of SQL, making data access more intuitive. Additionally, the platform integrates with large language models (LLMs) to provide real-time, governed data across the enterprise, supporting retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) for generating trusted and insightful results from generative AI applications.
Ryan Fattini, VP of Data & Analytics at City Furniture, said, "We see Denodo 9.0 as a game-changer. Self-service data preparation and Generative AI integration will empower users of all backgrounds to customise and use datasets effortlessly. The Iceberg and Delta integration enhances analytics, and the advanced security governance and inspection tools improve oversight and compliance."
Denodo 9.0 also offers intelligent query recommendations, learning from user interactions and providing automated suggestions of the best data to use based on individual needs. This functionality aims to increase productivity by allowing users to focus on their questions without worrying about data sourcing or processing methods.
The platform's advanced security measures are designed to ensure compliance with data-centric regulations and offer more robust governance. Denodo Platform 9.0 provides various features, such as streamlined DevOps support for better collaboration and new data-preparation wizards that allow users to customise datasets based on their needs without requiring data-team assistance.
Fern Halper, TDWI Vice President and Senior Research Director for Advanced Analytics, said, "At TDWI, we believe that companies, in the ongoing effort to unify their diverse data, will leverage physical and logical data architectures. Denodo Platform 9.0 promises strong support for a data fabric that can accommodate both approaches, with enhanced AI capabilities to improve the data fabric's flexibility in supporting a wider variety of different user personas."
The key functionalities of Denodo Platform 9.0 include:
- Natural-Language Query Support: Integration with ChatGPT, AWS Bedrock, and other generative AI platforms allows users to query data using natural language.
- New Data-Preparation Wizards: Users can customise datasets to meet individual needs, freeing data teams to focus on more strategic tasks.
- Intelligent Query Recommendations: AI-powered wizards respond to user activity, streamlining the data-query process.
- Support for AI-Ready Data: Easy incorporation of real-time, enterprise-specific data into generative AI projects via RAG.
- Improved Developer-Experience Capabilities: Enhanced DevOps support, efficient task management, faster onboarding, and easier data access and manipulation.
- Enhanced MPP-Based Data-Lake Engine: Easier integration with Delta and Iceberg tables, increased accessibility, and actionable data lakes.
- Advanced Federated Governance: Finer-grained controls for managing decentralised data product creation and reuse.
- Enhanced Inspection: Improved tools for inspecting and auditing data-access policies for better oversight and compliance.
Alberto Pan, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Denodo, said, "To say that we are excited about Denodo Platform 9.0 is a vast understatement. This release, developed over several years, brings an unprecedented level of intelligence to data management, opening up new opportunities for both business and technical users."
"The new AI and data-preparation features, including support for RAG, will bring advanced, trusted data analytics to a wider group of users, while the improved MPP and DevOps capabilities will accelerate data access, making the data analytics experience faster and more seamless across various use cases."
