Databricks & Palantir partner to advance AI solutions

Today

Databricks and Palantir have announced a strategic partnership that integrates Palantir's AI operating system with Databricks' platform for AI, data warehousing, and data engineering.

The collaboration between Databricks and Palantir aims to provide an open and scalable data architecture by merging Palantir's Ontology System with Databricks' processing capabilities. This integration targets the delivery of real-time, AI-powered autonomous workflows across public and private sector organisations. As a result, entities such as the Department of Defense, the Department of Health and Human Services, and energy firm bp are set to benefit.

The integration combines the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform with Palantir's Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP), utilising tools such as Unity Catalog through Delta Sharing alongside Palantir's security systems. Customers can use these capabilities to leverage GenAI, machine learning, and data warehousing in a secure and efficient environment. The partnership is designed to lower technical and operational barriers for customers looking to deploy AI-powered solutions while maintaining a low total cost of ownership (TCO).

Rory Patterson, Chairman of the Board of Databricks Federal, commented on the initiative, "Databricks and Palantir customers in the public and private sectors were already looking for ways to integrate the two technologies to optimise performance and eliminate redundant costs. Over the past four months, we have been working with joint customers who have been amazed at how our two technologies seamlessly integrate into a unified, open, and scalable data architecture by combining Unity Catalog through Delta Sharing with the Palantir system. Combining Palantir's fast delivery of business value with Databricks' leading Data Intelligence Platform will deliver 'the best of both worlds' to our joint customers."

Ted Mabrey, Palantir's Global Head of Commercial, added his perspective: "Operational integration of Palantir and Databricks reduces costs and complexity for our customers while providing a foundation to accelerate their operations into the age of AI. Palantir and Databricks are aligned to deliver on our customers' mission-critical objectives, and this partnership has already proven to accelerate those outcomes. The 'best of both worlds' technical approach means the best outcomes for our mutual customers."

From the perspective of an industry partner, Emeka Emembolu, EVP of Technology at bp, highlighted the importance of robust data foundations: "A robust data foundation is key to delivering bp's reset strategy and our long-term competitiveness. Palantir and Databricks are vital partners for the next phase of our digital transformation. By building on the work we are doing together, we will be empowering teams across bp, maximising value of our data and accelerating AI adoption."

This strategic partnership reflects the ongoing efforts of both companies to address the growing demand from organisations aiming to harness AI and data technologies to enhance efficiency and scalability within a secure framework. The collaboration is expected to continue serving various mission-critical applications across various sectors.
