COMPUTEX 2024 to highlight AI, sustainability, innovation

COMPUTEX 2024 is set to commence tomorrow at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, bringing together 1,500 exhibitors from around the globe. Utilising 4,500 booths, the event is projected to attract 50,000 visitors, both from overseas and locally. Organised by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Taipei Computer Association (TCA), the event's pre-launch press conference highlighted significant technological innovations and future trends in the tech industry, underscoring COMPUTEX's pivotal role in the sector.

James Huang, Chairman of TAITRA, remarked on the critical role of computing power in the current AI era. "Taiwan has a complete AI ecosystem and rich talent resources, attracting customers from around the world to find ideal partners. COMPUTEX is committed to computing innovations, giving people unprecedented possibilities," he said.

Paul S.L. Peng, Chairman of TCA, also highlighted Taiwan's extensive experience in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector. "Taiwan’s ICT industry has a proven track record of over 40 years of R&D experience and professional reputation. International buyers today agree that we are among the most efficient, reliable, and trustworthy partners, as well as the best choice for building GenAI solutions globally," Peng stated.

The keynote address at COMPUTEX 2024 focuses on the theme "Connecting AI" and covers a broad range of topics, including AI Computing, Advanced Connectivity, Future Mobility, Immersive Reality, Sustainability, and Innovations. AMD's Chairman and CEO, Dr Lisa Su. Followed by other notable speakers such as Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger, MediaTek Vice Chairman and CEO Dr. Rick Tsai, Supermicro President and CEO Charles Liang, and NXP Semiconductors' EVP and CTO Lars Reger. These leaders shared their insights and trends within the AI field, offering attendees a comprehensive overview of current industry directions.

This year's COMPUTEX Forum will explore the theme "Let's Talk Generative AI," with industry giants NVIDIA, Google, Synopsys, and AWS discussing AI applications. Other major manufacturers, including Micron, Arm, Seagate, Ampere, and Phison, will elaborate on how hardware innovations underpin AI technology and contribute to overall industry progress.

InnoVEX 2024, the innovation-focused exhibition space for start-ups, is expected to feature 400 start-ups from over 30 countries. These companies will present cutting-edge products and solutions in areas such as artificial intelligence, green technology, smart mobility, and semiconductors. Seven national pavilions, including those from Belgium/Flanders, Brazil, France, Australia/NSW, Japan, Indonesia, and India, will participate, showcasing international advancements and fostering cross-border collaboration.

Garage+, a global accelerator, has selected 36 technological start-ups out of 294 applicants from 47 countries to exhibit. These start-ups span four major fields: AI & Data, Digital Solutions, Energy & Healthcare, and IoT & Manufacturing. Additionally, the Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration will feature a themed pavilion, "Technology Empowers Green Ecology, Innovation Leads Sustainable Development," highlighting advanced technologies and innovative solutions that support sustainable development.

In a new initiative, COMPUTEX has introduced the "Sustainable Design Award" to encourage exhibitors to incorporate the principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (3R) into their booth designs. This award aims to promote environmentally friendly exhibitions and encourage the industry towards a future defined by low carbon emissions, reduced pollution, and minimal energy consumption. This builds on last year’s successful "ESG GO! Booth Signage" and "Earth Mission APP," reinforcing COMPUTEX’s commitment to sustainable environmental protection and green transformation.
