Blackbird IT earns Great Place to Work certification after survey

Thu, 23rd Oct 2025

Blackbird IT has received certification as a Great Place to Work, following employee feedback and assessment against national benchmarks.

The certification process relies entirely on input from employees regarding their experiences at Blackbird IT. Survey results show that 88% of Blackbird IT employees consider it a great place to work. This figure is notably higher than the Australian national average, with 60% of employees at typical companies expressing similar sentiments.

According to research by Great Place To Work, job seekers who join a certified Great Workplace are 4.5 times more likely to find a good manager. The research also notes that employees at these certified organisations are 93% more likely to look forward to coming to work. Additionally, they are twice as likely to regard themselves as having reasonable pay, a fair share of company profits, and genuine opportunities for promotion.

Culture and leadership

Blackbird IT's approach to culture has played a central role in its workplace environment and management style. The organisation's leadership states that collaboration and mutual support are critical for both internal teams and client engagement.

Ben Corbett, CEO of Blackbird IT, commented on the significance of the certification. He said, "We're really proud to be named a Great Place to Work. It validates the support and flexibility we strive to give our employees."

Mr Corbett highlighted the importance of third-party confirmation of the company's workplace culture. "We want the external validation to hold us accountable to the environment we've promised our people. This certification is a checkpoint that shows us we're moving in the right direction," he said.

"Culture is easy to claim but harder to demonstrate," says Mr Corbett.

Blackbird IT's executive team, which has worked together for more than a decade, maintains a focus on empowering staff by reducing workplace hierarchy and fostering creative collaboration. They say this approach helps employees thrive and delivers positive experiences for clients as well.

Mr Corbett explained the company's philosophy: "We're here to support our clients realistically with the solutions they need, and we apply the same principle internally: supporting our team with clear communication and real opportunities for growth. We're always learning and growing, but the aim stays the same: build a workplace where people thrive, feel heard, and actually enjoy being a part of."

People-first focus

Since its inception, Blackbird IT has positioned its people-first focus as a core aspect of its organisational identity. The company's leadership aims to back this up with tangible support, open communication, and flexibility for employees.

Blackbird IT's strategy involves regular internal feedback, reviews of initiatives, and policies intended to empower employees and give them opportunities for professional development.

For Blackbird IT, maintaining a strong workplace culture is not only about internal satisfaction but is also linked to client relationships. The organisation has stated that its people-first policies align with how it provides services to clients, striving for realistic support and practical solutions beyond rhetoric.

Mr Corbett said, "For organisations looking to partner with a team that doesn't just say they care, but backs it up with action, this certification is just another reason Blackbird IT stands out."

Certification process

The Great Place to Work certification is based on employee responses to the Trust Index survey and a narrative account describing company culture and practices, known as the Culture Brief. Certification is granted to organisations that meet a defined benchmark of positive employee feedback.

The accreditation is designed to provide independent confirmation of an organisation's efforts to create and maintain a supportive work environment, and serves as a public reference point for both job seekers and clients.
