Atturra, Comtrac partner on AI-driven investigation tools

Thu, 11th Dec 2025

Atturra has entered a strategic partnership with Brisbane-based investigations software provider Comtrac in a move that targets law enforcement and regulatory agencies across Australia.

Under the agreement, Atturra will act as a reseller and implementation partner for Comtrac's investigation and digital brief of evidence platform. Atturra will also host Comtrac in a shared services model.

The arrangement will give clients a single channel for software, integration, and ongoing support. Atturra will provide systems integration, analytics, change management, and training services alongside Comtrac deployments.

Atturra focuses on technology services for government and regulated sectors. Comtrac supplies investigation and evidence management tools used by law enforcement, government agencies, and private organisations in Australia and overseas.

The partners aim to address growing caseloads, more complex investigations, and tighter compliance expectations in policing and regulatory work. Agencies face pressure on both investigative outcomes and administrative record-keeping.

Atturra said the partnership will offer a modern investigation management approach that uses artificial intelligence and structured workflows. Comtrac's platform sits on top of existing case and records management systems.

The alliance also broadens Atturra's applications business in regulatory, safety, and compliance software. It adds Comtrac into an ecosystem that already includes vendors such as Nuix and SafetyCulture, which also have relationships with Comtrac.

AI in investigations

Comtrac's platform supports the management of investigations and the production of briefs of evidence and investigation reports. It uses automation to analyse evidence and assess its relevance to offences.

The software links exhibits to key offence elements in a structured manner. It then generates court-ready briefs of evidence and legal documents such as warrant applications, domestic violence orders, enforceable undertakings, and other forms.

These tasks often rely on manual document handling and spreadsheet-based tracking. Many agencies still use tools that focus on record-keeping rather than investigative workflow.

Traditional systems can fragment information across multiple platforms. They log events and documents but do not guide investigators through analysis and case-building.

Comtrac is designed to run alongside existing case management and records systems. It reduces time spent on administrative preparation and back-office tasks.

The company claims the platform can cut the production time for briefs and reports from months to days. It also claims that a single investigator can deliver the output previously associated with a four-person team.

The partnership will target agencies that need greater investigative throughput but face workforce and retention constraints. It will also focus on environments where scrutiny of compliance processes and governance is increasing.

Atturra and Comtrac plan to support secure, auditable case preparation aligned with court requirements. They will work with clients that need to connect evidence workflows with existing compliance, records, and analytics systems.

Focus on government

Atturra has a long-standing presence across local, state, and federal government. It also works with sectors such as defence, utilities, education, and financial services.

The company expects its professional services teams to play a central role in Comtrac projects. The focus will include systems integration, data platform alignment, and governance frameworks.

Many agencies see integration with legacy systems as a barrier to adopting new investigation tools. Atturra plans to address this through project delivery and support services.

Alastair Brooke, Safety Solutions Practise Director at Atturra, said the tie-up responds to shifting risk and regulatory settings.

"We are thrilled to partner with Comtrac to further enhance our client offerings," said Alastair Brooke, Safety Solutions Practise Director, Atturra. "With regulatory and compliance requirements increasing across industries, the need for secure AI and modern digital collaboration has never been greater. By leveraging Comtrac's industry-leading technology, we aim to transform the investigative case management industry sector."

Atturra said its delivery structure will support roll-outs of Comtrac across government portfolios and agencies. It will target both central departments and specialist regulators.

Comtrac brings an investigations platform that has evolved from practical law enforcement needs. The company positions its methodology as a way to standardise case-building across different offence types.

Founder and chief executive Craig Doran said the partnership will widen Comtrac's reach in public sector markets.

"We are excited about the opportunities this collaboration presents, including our capability now to become a parter of choice for all levels of government, including local councils, where Atturra is an ideal strategic fit with its tremendous footprint in this market.

"By working with Atturra we'll be able to reinforce our ability to service markets at scale with investigations in areas such as criminal conduct, environmental crime and biosecurity, fraud and financial crime, health and safety breaches, corruption and misconduct. Our aim is to remain the trusted solution for investigation and digital brief of evidence management and in leveraging Atturra's capabilities we'll be able to accelerate the adoption of our software and enable our clients to achieve maximum benefits from our innovative solutions," said Doran.
