Adactin buys Focus Dynamics Group in Microsoft push

Adactin has completed its acquisition of Focus Dynamics Group, bringing together two Australian technology services companies.

Melbourne-based Focus Dynamics Group specialises in Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Azure services. The deal strengthens Adactin's Microsoft services portfolio and expands its presence in Victoria and South Australia.

The transaction combines Adactin's work across cloud, software engineering, digital transformation and software testing with Focus Dynamics Group's position in Microsoft Business Applications. Focus Dynamics Group has built a customer base in sectors including manufacturing, distribution, and food and beverage.

Sydney-headquartered Adactin has about 400 employees. Focus Dynamics Group adds 82 employees and partners, all of whom will be retained, and will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary.

Adactin gains deeper Microsoft Dynamics expertise for its existing customers, while Focus Dynamics Group customers will gain access to Adactin's digital transformation and software testing capabilities. The combination also creates opportunities to sell services across each other's client bases.

Microsoft focus

For Adactin, the acquisition also reflects an effort to broaden its presence beyond its established public sector base. It plans to expand the use of Microsoft technologies across a wider range of customers and industries in Australia.

Focus Dynamics Group has built a presence in Australia's southern states, giving Adactin a stronger foothold in those regions. Its geographic reach was one attraction of the deal, alongside Focus Dynamics Group's experience in Microsoft Business Applications.

Chief Executive Officer Navneesh Garg outlined Adactin's rationale for the acquisition.

"Focus Dynamics Group is a trusted technology partner with over 5 years of experience in Microsoft Dynamics which will enable us to scale organically and offer solutions that will complement Adactin's offerings. While we are committed to growing our business in the government sector, the acquisition will be significant as it will not only provide a launchpad for expanded market presence in states where we have had a minor presence but the additional skills set will also strengthen our position within existing customer deployments and provide opportunities within new private enterprises and public sector agencies," Garg said.

Staff retained

The structure is intended to preserve customer continuity. By keeping Focus Dynamics Group as a separate subsidiary and retaining all staff and partners, Adactin aims to avoid disruption for existing clients while giving employees access to a larger organisation.

The approach also reflects the importance of relationships in services businesses, where team continuity can be central to customer retention after a takeover. Both sides said clients would keep their existing points of contact.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer Michael Zarb described the transaction as one that preserves Focus Dynamics Group's team and client relationships.

The acquisition adds to consolidation in Australia's technology services market, where firms have sought specialist skills in cloud and business applications alongside broader national coverage. For Adactin, the deal adds a larger Microsoft practice, a stronger position in the southern states, and an expanded team of about 482 people across the combined business.
