Tenable appoints Eric Doerr as Chief Product Officer to lead growth

Today

Tenable has appointed Eric Doerr as its new chief product officer (CPO), bringing with him nearly 30 years of experience in cybersecurity leadership at some of the world's most prominent technology companies, including Google Cloud and Microsoft.

Doerr will lead Tenable's global product organisation, with responsibility for product strategy, innovation and execution across the company's cybersecurity portfolio. His appointment comes as the firm prepares to launch a significantly expanded version of its Tenable One platform, which it says will deliver broader exposure management capabilities.

"Tenable has a clear and compelling vision for the future of cybersecurity—one that unifies visibility, prioritisation and remediation across the modern attack surface," said Steve Vintz, co-CEO of Tenable. "Eric's deep expertise in cloud-native security, threat intelligence, and large-scale product innovation makes him the ideal leader to advance our exposure management vision and accelerate our impact across the enterprise."

Before joining Tenable, Doerr served as Vice President of Security Products at Google Cloud. There, he led a diverse portfolio that included Google SecOps—formerly Chronicle—and Google Threat Intelligence, as well as the integration of Mandiant, a leading threat intelligence and response firm acquired by Google.

Prior to his role at Google, Doerr spent more than two decades at Microsoft in senior positions across its security and identity divisions. His roles included General Manager of Microsoft Account and Corporate Vice President of Cloud Security and the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC), where he was responsible for helping organisations respond to critical threats and vulnerabilities.

Reflecting on his new role, Doerr said: "Tenable is transforming how organisations think about and reduce cyber risk. Its forward-thinking approach to exposure management and its rapid innovation in cloud security make this an incredibly exciting time to join. I'm thrilled to be part of a team that's building the future of cybersecurity."

Doerr succeeds Shai Morag, who will remain at Tenable during the transition. The company acknowledged Morag's contributions to its product strategy and growth, stating its appreciation for his leadership.

Founded as an exposure management company, Tenable's stated mission is to help organisations identify and remediate security gaps across their digital infrastructure. The company claims to support approximately 44,000 customers globally, offering cybersecurity solutions that span IT, cloud and critical infrastructure environments.

Doerr's appointment marks a strategic move as Tenable looks to bolster its presence in cloud security and continue expanding its integrated product suite.

No further details were given regarding the timeline for the Tenable One platform expansion or specific product rollouts under Doerr's leadership.
